I've always been fascinated by "limited edition" food items. It's pretty intriguing that a company can reformulate a product or add additional flavorings to an existing formula and spin it off as something new. Or, as a testament to the human psyche and taking a page out of marketing 101, adding a familiar character or franchise name to an existing product to give it the "special, out of the ordinary" feel.

Now there are dozens of these "new" food items hitting the shelves every month. I quite enjoy paroozing the aisles in search of these gems. Here are a few I spotted on my most recent trip to the supermarket:

I was quite unaware there was even a sequel to 1993 classic. Indeed, Hocus Pocus 2 is coming to Disney+ on September 30, 2022. While it's not really my cup of tea, I'm sure there are many middle-aged adults that will catch a nostalgic buzz from this upcoming feature. And if they don't, their kids surely will from this sugary berry-flavored cereal!

Another one from Disney is this Obi-Wan Frosted Flakes, which mixes light side original & "dark side" chocolate. Essentially, this appears to just be a simple mix of regular Frosted Flakes and chocolate Frosted Flakes. Well played Kellogg's!

I have been told that this Supergirl oatmeal by Quaker has been out for a couple months. Looks like a standard flavor and there's sill plenty of stock. This may be a good one for collector's to scoop up, as the 2022 movie "Supergirl" was reported earlier this month to be halted and not moving forward. I may pick up a box for my hoard.
