McDonald's Considering Standalone McCafé Locations in US

In what is perhaps an attempt to gain market share from fast casual coffee/breakfast chains Dunkin Donuts and Starbucks, McDonald's is now at least considering standalone McCafé locations in the United States. According to a leak from an anonymous internet user, concept art appears to show what these restaurants, dubbed McCafé Corners, may look like:

The building is definitely very interesting looking. What stands out to me personally is that the yellow façade almost makes it look like french fries, which ironically you would not be able to get at such a proposed location. Further screenshots appear to show what the menu may look like: exclusively breakfast foods and drinks. No burgers or fries. It would definitely be strange going to a McCafé location and not be able to get an order of fries, especially if the look of the building invokes the legendary golden fried potatoes.

As you can see, this drink menu appears to contain completely new items, including boba tea.

The "grab & go" snack box looks like a Lunchable. This is a similar offering to what you may get at a Starbuck's, albeit at a much cheaper price.

Would you stop at a McCafé location? Or does this proposed expansion seem like an unnecessary stunt by McDonald's? Are you lovin' it, or should this go the way of the McRib?

The McCafé style locations aren't exactly a new concept, with the first one opening in Australia in 1993. As of 2003, they are actually the largest coffee shop brand in the land down under and New Zealand. While the brand has over 300 locations internationally, including Costa Rica, France, Bulgaria, Peru, South Africa, El Salvador, and Canada. There are about 1300 locations worldwide.

There was one location in Chicago, which closed in 2005 after the concept failed to take off. So it appears McDonald's is trying again.
