KODI is a media player. It is free. You install add-ons to improve it's functionality. If you want to stream out movies, tv series w/o downloading KODI is a heaven for many people. You have heard it from somewhere but you are too lazy to try or setup basics. Maybe you are right because it takes a few steps to have a smooth KODI experience. The alternative for KODI is Stremio but it mainly uses torrenting so preferring KODI may suit for many.
Here are step by step instructions to get a fine KODI. If you are on an Android box ,Windows, Linux, mobile or else, it should not matter. Get your KODI from the platform you are on. No, you do not need a VPN as there is no torrenting but as the add-ons are at gray area, privacy matters. It's up to you.
What to do at KODI settings ?
1) Turn on Unknown Sources from Settings/System/Addons
2) Add relevant add-ons. I choose the following add-ons as they perform well for a long time.
General Instructions:
- Go to the file manager in KODI.
- Click "Add source"
- The path for the source is stated below for each relevant add-on. Give it the name whatever you want e.g. "The Crew".
- Go to "Addons"
- Click "Install an addon from zip". When it asks for the location, select the name you have added, and install whatever_repo_name.zip
- Go to "Addons" and click "Install from repository"
- Select the "Repo Name"
- Browse to "Video add-ons" section in the relevant repo, and find desired (Addon_Name) and install.

3) Get a debrid account. Cheapest debrid is real-debrid by cryptocurrencies. It is only 3 EUR/m. You can buy it with bitcoins, ethereum, litecoin, etc... It will save you a lot of trouble. What is it? It will provide direct links to cached torrents or the torrents you add to the debrid so that you will not have to share data while torrenting. You simple download from their servers so no VPN is needed.
4) Pair your real-debrid account and Trakt account with each add-on's settings page.
That's it. Until you mess your system or the developer messes the relevant repo, it will run smoothly. Sometimes, it may ask to pair your debrid or Trakt account at some major updates of the add-ons or the KODI itself.
