Web3 loves talking about decentralization. We talk about ownership, transparency, permissionless applications and removing intermediaries.
But there is still an awkward problem sitting in the middle of all this innovation. Most of the world's useful information lives outside the blockchain.
Primus Labs Is Building the Missing Trust Layer Between Web2 and Web3
Financial platforms, websites, APIs, enterprise databases and online services generate enormous amounts of data.
How do decentralized applications access that information and know it is authentic? How can they use sensitive information without exposing it?
This is the infrastructure challenge that Primus Labs is trying to address. The technology has applications far beyond one corner of Web3.
Making off-chain information verifiable! Primus Labs uses zkTLS to help verify the authenticity of internet data and HTTPS/API responses through cryptographic proofs.
Imagine a decentralized application needs to verify a user's activity on an external platform. Traditionally, this could involve screenshots, manual checks or trusting a third party.
zkTLS offers another approach: cryptographic verification without exposing the underlying raw information. Opportunities for verified credentials, loyalty systems, financial verification and AI agents that need reliable external information.
It's a bridge between the information we already have online and applications that need to verify it on-chain. The privacy equation: FHE, TEEs and GPU acceleration
Primus Labs is also developing infrastructure around Fully Homomorphic Encryption. FHE allows computation on encrypted data, meaning sensitive information can remain protected during processing.
The project also works with Trusted Execution Environments (TEEs) to provide additional protection for runtime execution and sensitive cryptographic materials.
And because advanced cryptography can be expensive and computationally demanding, GPU acceleration is another important part of the picture.
The objective is straightforward! Make privacy-preserving technology practical, efficient and accessible. Not just theoretically impressive From technology to an actual ecosystem
Its ecosystem is not limited to one product or use case! It includes a set of tools and Dapps:
Primus Dev Hub: Tools for developers building data templates and integrations.
Loyalty Program: Bringing verified user data and activity on-chain.
Proof-of-Reserve: Helping projects demonstrate financial positions through cryptographic verification.
Confidential Finance: Supporting private management and interaction with encrypted assets.
The project has also reported more than 1 million ecosystem users, 10+ paid enterprise customers and $72M+ in Proof-of-Reserve TVL.
These numbers suggest that Primus is already working towards practical adoption rather than focusing exclusively on future possibilities. The business side matters too
Technology alone doesn't guarantee a sustainable ecosystem. Primus Labs is pursuing a B2B2C model that connects developers, applications, consumer communities and enterprise customers.
Its potential revenue streams include API integration fees, network gas fees, enterprise setup fees and recurring management fees.
More enterprise adoption can attract developers. More developers can create applications. More applications can generate additional network activity.
From its early PADO days to the Primus rebrand, the project has continued developing its vision around verifiable data and privacy-preserving computation.
Its reported milestones include $6.5 million in pre-seed and seed funding, integrations across multiple blockchain ecosystems, enterprise partnerships and research recognition at USENIX Security.
AI agents need trustworthy information. Financial applications need privacy. Businesses need verification. Users need control over their data. These are not isolated problems.
They are connected pieces of the infrastructure that the next generation of the internet will require. Primus is attempting to bring several of those pieces together.
I'm not saying every ambitious cryptographic project will become essential infrastructure. Web3 has taught us to separate promises from execution.
But the problems Primus is targeting are real, and the potential applications extend well beyond the usual crypto narratives.
The future needs more than information. It needs information we can verify without surrendering our privacy. That's the direction Primus is building towards.
