I woke up this morning to be pleasantly surprised. Since I made a big move into BitCoin a month or so ago my portfolio has been standing at a slight lost (value of between 90-95% of investment value variable from day to day). However, today was very different because my overall portfolio value was up into the realms of profitability again. Bar one of my tokens everything else was green but the among them it was BitCoin that has moved most significantly.
It begged the obvious question - what happened overnight?
A quick look at my Coinbase even showed a notification that BitCoin had surged thanks to inflows of $USD680m which was the most significant growth factor, but I soon found that there was more at play. Global markets had staged a relief rally as fears about the Iran conflict eased, prompting investors to rotate back into risk assets. BitCoin climbed as much as 8% to around $73,777 during this rebound before settling slightly lower. In the meantime U.S. President Donald Trump publicly reinforced support for the digital‑asset sector, which, in sending a clear signal, both strengthened sentiment and encouraging renewed institutional interest. Coupled with this, crypto‑related equities surged, especially Coinbase, whose 15% jump reflected broader optimism and reinforced confidence in the rally and to underpin the overall momentum large‑scale corporate accumulation continued to gather pace, including Michael Saylor’s firm adding over 3,000 BTC in early March, signaling long‑term institutional conviction.
So overall, we need to be sure how to interpret this move, is it the start of an upward trajectory or is it just a temporary upward movement as BitCoin continues to settle. We need to briefly consider all of the aforementioned factors which are working together to create this movement. With it being driven by more than a single factor the overall sentiment behind the current surge is that it is less of a “sudden spike” and more of a coordinated shift in sentiment and capital flows.
So now I guess it is a game of wait and see...
As always stay safe and well my friends.
