SciFi Future - Quantum Entanglement network up and running in the Netherlands

WOW, last week a major milestone was hit by the Netherlands by connecting three Quantum processors via an Entanglement network!

Executive Summary - they have connected the separate Quantum processors via an Entanglement network! WooHoo the worlds first multi-node quantum network has been constructed and tested. WOW, is this the feeling they had back when ARCNET and Ethernet were being tested?

Sorry, I will come back to Earth, connecting Quantum devices is no easy feat, they have surpassed the pervious record of two connected Quantum processors. 

So what is entanglement? It is a phenomenon that occurs when two quantum particles are coupled in such a way that they become fundamentally connected, no matter how physically distant they are from each other.  So latency is not a factor? hmm?

Who made this achievement? QuTech's and they are based in the Netherlands. QuTech is supported by the EU's Quantum Internet Alliance, and they were founded in 2018 to enhance development and research in Quantum. What is QuTech doing? Their research team has been developing a system based on intermediate nodes, similar to routers in the classical internet, which could maintain entanglement over larger distances.

Why is this important? First envision a world secured by a quantum Internet.  One that brings a higher level of security (think unhackable) and exploit the strange laws of quantum mechanics to allow further technology advancements.  A much more sophisticated super computer (think HPC), think about all the new worlds we can unravel just with this new technology.
