On Tuesday, November 14th, Publish0x has completed a switch to Optimism Network, a Layer 2 solution for the Ethereum blockchain.
With this change complete, as of now we are integrating Optimism $OP token for tipping, in addition to tips in $ETH! Users on Publish0x can tip authors in $OP and $ETH. Both tokens have an equal probability of being distributed as tips.
$USDC is a third token used on Publish0x, and is exclusively distributed as a reward for completing Offerwalls.
All tokens can be withdrawn through the Optimism Network, where the minimum withdrawal amount for all three tokens is set at $0.5.
Why Publish0x Integrated Optimism Network and Sends $OP, $ETH, and $USDC over OP Mainnet?
OP Mainnet is a low-cost and lightning-fast Ethereum L2 blockchain powered by Optimism. Built as a minimal extension to existing Ethereum software, OP Mainnet's EVM-equivalent architecture scales your Ethereum apps without surprises. We see great potential for Optimism in the future, and are happy to play a small part in it's growth.
Another part of the reason why Publish0x is sending tokens over Optimism Network is lower costs to send transactions. "If it works on Ethereum, it works on OP Mainnet at a fraction of the cost." This allows us to set a low amount for a minimum withdrawal, which will be set at $0.5 for all tokens. Publish0x will cover the gas fees, as we have done so far.
We are proponents of self custody. We have however previously worked closely with a CEX in order to save on costly transaction fees over the Ethereum Network. As gas fees for transactions over OP Mainnet are low, we do not need to partner with any centralized exchange. However, most major exchanges support tokens sent to, and received from Optimism Network, so CEXes are an option for users who prefer to use them.
