Publish0x Switches to Optimism Network for Tipping!

Starting Tuesday, November 14th, Publish0x is excited to announce a switch to Optimism Network, a Layer 2 solution for the Ethereum blockchain. The platform will adopt $ETH and $OP for tipping, and $USDC will be distributed as a reward for completing Offerwalls, all facilitated through the Optimism Network.

A part of the reason why we will be sending tokens over Optimism Network is lower gas fees. This allows us to set a low amount for a minimum withdrawal, which will be set at $0.5 for all tokens. Publish0x will cover the gas fees, as we have done so far.

As gas fees are low, we do not need to partner with any specific centralized exchange; most CEXes operate in some regions, but not all. This geofencing is more strictly enforced since almost all CEXes require KYC, which many (such as ByBit, KuCoin, and BitGet) have made mandatory in 2022 or 2023.

As a result, there is no longer a one-fits-all (or most) CEX partner available anymore. The switch to sending tokens over Optimism Network makes it redundant to have a preferred CEX with which we work with closely to send users withdrawals.

Current Tipping Tokens and Upcoming Changes

As of today, Publish0x will offer tips exclusively in $ETH. We then plan to introduce $OP as an additional tipping token between November 14th and 15th, immediately following the completion of our token swap event. Both $ETH and $OP will then have an equal probability of being distributed as tips.

Impact on Your Current Balances in ETH, AMPL, SPOT, and USDC?

Your balances in Ethereum ETH and USDC will remain unchanged. However, balances in AMPL and SPOT will be automatically converted to OP tokens, ensuring an equivalent dollar value is maintained. This conversion is scheduled for Tuesday, November 14th.

  • Should you prefer to withdraw your AMPL and SPOT tokens rather than convert them to OP, please submit your withdrawal request by 6 PM UTC on Monday, November 13th.
  • Similarly, if you wish to withdraw ETH and USDC to the Ethereum mainnet, rather than to Optimism Network, please submit your withdrawal request by 6 PM UTC on Monday, November 13th.
  • After November 14th, all of the tokens - $ETH, $OP, and $USDC, will be sent over the Optimism Network.

Understanding OP Network Token Transactions

The Optimism Network is a Layer 2 scaling solution for the Ethereum blockchain, enjoying support from leading exchanges such as Binance, Bybit, KuCoin, BitGet, and more.

Important! Withdrawals to Optimism Network will be opened up on 14th or 15th of November.

To withdraw tokens via Publish0x, assign a new withdrawal address specifically for Optimism Network tokens from here.

  • Note that Optimism Network is a layer 2 on Ethereum Network. Optimism Network also has it's own token - $OP, just like Ethereum Network has it's own token - $ETH. Do not confuse the two.

Withdrawals to an Exchange.

IMPORTANT! Ensure the accuracy of the following to prevent loss of funds: The withdrawal address for $ETH on the Optimism Network may differ from those for $OP or $USDC.

  • Verify the correct address for each token.
  • Confirm that the address obtained from the exchange is configured for the Optimism Network.
  • Note that Optimism Network is a layer 2 on Ethereum Network. Optimism Network also has it's own token - $OP, just like Ethereum Network has it's own token - $ETH. Do not confuse the two.

On this page you can find a detailed guide on how to deposit tokens from Optimism Network (including from Publish0x, as we send tokens over Optimism Network), using various centralized exchanges.

Withdrawals to a Personal Wallet.

If withdrawing to a self-custody wallet, use your existing Ethereum Network address. Yes, you can use the same address that holds the same keys as your current Ethereum Network address, or you can use a completely new Ethereum address for Optimism Network withdrawals.

To access tokens on the Optimism Network, switch your wallet's network to 'Optimism Network'. This can be done with Metamask, in four quick, easy steps:

1. Open Metamask and navigate to "Settings".

2. Select "Networks" then "Add Network".

3. Choose either "Optimism" or "OP Mainnet" (whichever one of these shows for you) and confirm by clicking "Add Network".

Done!

In case you'd like to add a network manually these are settings to add Optimism Network to your self hosted wallet like Metamask:

OP Mainnet is a low-cost and lightning-fast Ethereum L2 blockchain powered by Optimism, that is scaling Ethereum & it’s values.

Fast, stable, scalable Ethereum. OP Mainnet is a fast, stable, and scalable L2 blockchain built by Ethereum developers, for Ethereum developers. Built as a minimal extension to existing Ethereum software, OP Mainnet's EVM-equivalent architecture scales your Ethereum apps without surprises. If it works on Ethereum, it works on OP Mainnet at a fraction of the cost.

Built for the public good. OP Mainnet is more than just a blockchain. It's an experiment in sustainable ecosystem funding fueled by protocol revenue. Retroactive Public Goods Funding is simple: you build for the public good, you're eligible to receive a grant. Join us on Discord and help build the future of Ethereum, sustainably.

OP Mainnet goes Superchain The Superchain! Project seeks to maximize interoperability and composability between different chains using the OP Stack, and integrate siloed L2s into a single, cohesive layer.
