I love the Brave browser and everything it stands for.

It's a great way to clean out ads without thinking about it and also a great way to earn BAT tokens just for using your browser. It also saves data, which is a welcome bonus.

But that's on the user's side.

On the creator's side, things get even more fun.

We can also use the browser normally and get rewarded with BAT, but creators can also opt in to receive BAT rewards from viewers.

It sounds great in theory, but in practice, it's a really crappy experience.

So first, you of course sign up to be a creator. No big deal. Just your email address, verification code is sent to it, you copy-paste the verification code and you're good to go.

Then you verify your website by adding a tracking code or something to the head tag. Also very easy for anyone who built the website themselves.

Now, you get to linking your rewards with a wallet. This is where things get super annoying.

For starters, you HAVE to use Uphold. You can't choose your own wallet to receive BAT tokens to, which sucks big time.

But ok, I'll let that slide.

So I sign up for Uphold. The usual process again. Email. Verification code. Copy-paste. Done 

Errrrrr.....not so fast.

Not done.

There's one more step. 

You'll have to supply your ID. 

That alone is a major put off.

For a browser that is inclined towards 'privacy', it seems awfully strange that I have to give out my PERSONAL details. 

This is a major put off to me. Why do I have to submit my personal details? The whole emo of the browser is PRIVACY. Why can't I keep my documents private?

And the fact that you can't use any other wallet is just messed up. I get that there are mutual benefits for both companies in transaction fees and whatnot, but I have much better wallets in mind.

I wish to keep my BAT in my Ledger so that I'm not tempted to spend it. I want to do that so I'll be happy 2-3 years down the line when BAT appreciates.

I can't do that now, because Uphold is annoying.

It's not like I can't just snap my passport and submit it. But the fact that a browser built in privacy makes that a requirement is a real turn off.

But still, I have registered for my uphold. My sure will soon be verified, and all will be right with the world.
