Privacy, privacy, privacy.

It's a very important word for those of us who spend any time online.

Ads disrespect it. Google infringes on it almost every minute. And Brave tries to protect it.

Brave actually does a good job protecting you online from the terrible wall of ads that awaits you and your bandwidth once you start typing into that Google search bar.

Unfortunately, the very shield we use to protect ourselves from these terrible things has turned on us.

Brave claims to be all about the privacy, which is awesome, but they ask you to submit your personal documents before you can withdraw your earned BAT tokens.

This is a good thing and a bad thing.

It's good because it prevents fraud to an extent. Fake accounts that just use Brave to earn BAT tokens will be filtered out this way. No one user can own two accounts this way. And that makes the platform run efficiently. Because one person isn't earning BAT that is meant for two people.

Now for the bad part.

It's bad because, well, it defeats the whole purpose of Cryptocurrencies and the browser itself.

Imagine if KYC was required before you can mine crypto. I'm very sure our Blockchains won't be as secure or functional as they are today.

The entire aim of BAT and Brave is privacy and privacy respecting ads. This emo is cool until you want to withdraw. 

Most people are ok with this. After all, it's just a driver's license. No one ever used that yo commit fraud(spoiler alert: they did)

But what measures does Brave employ to protect this data? What if the data leaks tomorrow and you're impersonated? How would you respond to that? All for a few dollars in crypto.

In my opinion, Brave should make KYC a requirement for those who want to withdraw a large amount. Say 1000BAT. Then it makes sense, because 1000BAT is actually worth something.

But if you require KYC to withdraw just 20BAT, then the whole purpose is defeated.

This is Brave's greatest problem.
