No one like ads.

They're mostly intrusive, mostly unrelated to what you're viewing, and they are extremely distracting from a concentration point if view.

But with these many downsides, they are very essential to content creators.

You see, ads placed on a website are one of the foremost ways for independent content creators to make a living off of their content alone.

These ads more or less pay the creator. So by clicking or viewing these ads, you are "paying" the content creator for his/her content. Nice.

But here comes Brave with its ad blocking feature. It completely removes these ads from the sites you visit, and even from YouTube videos. 

That's a nice addition to improve concentration, but remember that these content creators rely on these ads primarily to function.

You might say that these creators make money from affiliate links and whatnot.

But how many people actually buy what a reviewer is selling using THEIR links?

You may see the video or post, enjoy the content and put off buying for another time. You may eventually end up buying the product, but you won't use the affiliate link anymore. 

Removal of ads hurts the creators. 

You could say that Brave fixes that by allowing readers and viewers to tip the creator in BAT. 

But what if the creator isn't interested in cryptocurrencies? It sounds absurd, but there are people who couldn't care less about what is going on on the crypto side of things.

What if the creator is just an average Joe looking for a way to eat other than a 9-5?

There's also the fact that to convert BAT to USD, there'll be fees included.

To send the BAT from Uphold(they don't allow you to use a wallet of your choice) to your exchange wallet will require ETH for fees. Upon getting to your exchange, you'd have to sell the BAT for USD. Trading fees come in. Then you'd have to send the USD to your account. Sending fees also come in. So if you made $5 and you want to withdraw it, you may be left with just $3 at the end of the day.

Removal of ads really hurts creators in the long run. And until cryptocurrencies are widely adopted, the case will remain the same.
