Imagine if coke was the only cola you could get. Or if Starbucks was the only place you could get your coffee. Or if Taco Bell was the only place you could eat.
Things would be simpler, yes. But you really won't enjoy the sheer freedom given to you by choices.
And that is what is happening with Brave and the competition. Or lack thereof.
Brave is the only "privacy" centered browser that pays "dividends" to its users for using the browser.
It's great because it provides you with the luxury of not having to make a choice. The best option is the only option.
But it isn't great because Brave can do whatever they want without fear of losing customers to the other brand. Because there is no other brand.
Brave requires KYC to withdraw. This isn't a bummer to some, but it is to others. Having a browser that shows you ads when you want them and pays you in some other currency and doesn't require KYC to function adequately would be really well received.
Brave isn't also without it's bugs. I haven't found any, but I'm assuming no piece of software is perfect, and bugs will show eventually.
But the lack of competition isn't a good thing for the end user.
Sure, you can make decisions easier and quicker.
But the innovation that having choices brings is what made China the power it is today. If everyone was just content with the expensive products they were getting that didn't last long, China won't be as powerful as it is today(there are certainly other factors to their power, but that is definitely beyond the scope of this post).
Diversity brings innovation, because each company would be on the others heels, trying to grab some customers from the competition and always trying to make their product better than the competition. This leads to a healthy number of choices that will all function well, and give the user exactly what he wants.
This is why Brave needs competition. So they can become the best browser in the world
