As you know, I'm always on the lookout for passive income opportunities. COIN is one that I found quite a while back, but didn't really test heavily because the app has to be open in order to fully capitalize on its location-based faucet service. Yes, it is definitely more of a faucet than a mining app. Your location is represented on a map, which bears a grid overly. Each block on the grid can be "geomined" for an amount of COIN. COIN can be redeemed for a variety of prizes, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, a PS4, DNA Testing kits etc. The first 200 users to "witness" a big mining reward by tapping on it receive COIN as well. COIN can be spent to vie for ownership of a region. "Each time a user geomines in a geoclaimed area, 10% of their rewards go to one of the owners (randomly chosen based on their ownership percentage)." - https://support.coinapp.co/hc/en-us/articles/360033862493-Geoclaim-Contest-Rules. Occasionally, "sponsored geodrops" occur, which reward you with COIN in exchange for an ad plug for one of COIN's partners.
COIN earning through geomining alone is a slow process unless you are moving over the map quickly. Rewards typically range from 0.5-2 COIN and the minimum amount to redeem is 10,000 COIN. If you want Bitcoin, you'll have to save 613,100 COIN for 0.025 BTC. The numbers don't really get any smaller from there on. Geoclaiming is a gamble, but could earn you a decent amount if, unlike me, you live in a fairly urban area with a large user base. You could upgrade your membership for $25-$35/mo, but honestly I think this would cost more than you'd stand to make. Ultimately, it won't be fast, but that's true of any faucet. It is, however, free to use and a decent referral base is probably your best bet for increasing your earnings. Referrals net you 10% of their earnings for life.
Among faucet apps, COIN is one of my favorites because you can set it to claim automatically. Also, you will earn a portion of claims even when the app is closed. It's a very small portion, but anything is better than nothing. If you want to try COIN geomining, click here (referral link) and you'll get 1000 free COINs as a starting bonus.
