America, We’re Being Robbed

America, We’re Being Robbed

With the tensions that has dramatically ratcheted up with Iran since the beginning of the year, it has got me thinking about how pointless these Middle Eastern wars are, and how much money we have essentially set fire to, considering we haven't benefited from any of the trillions of dollars we have spent.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi, the #yasqueen of the #resistance, recently pushed through a military funding bill through which gave more than what Trump and the Pentagon even asked for. $738 Billion. President Obama's final military budget was $618 Billion. There has been a $120 Billion per year increase since President Trump has came into office. Funny how not even a month age, Speaker Pelosi pushed through the Articles of Impeachment, which called President Trump a national security threat. So why would she give $120 Billion more to President Trump, if she thinks that he is a national security risk? Ignoring that clear hypocrisy from the so-called leader Speaker Nancy Pelosi, but what have we gained from spending that much? New roads? Do we have the best infrastructure in the world? No? Hmm, so basically we, the American people, got nothing; however, don't worry there are some who has benefited greatly: Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Northrup Grumman, Black Water, Raytheon, and all the other war contractors, they have made a killing. Literally.

Lets look at the math of everything. In 2002, the US Defense Budget was $486 Billion. If we were to cap the Defense spending at that level, the US taxpayers would have saved $67 Billion in 2003, $116 Billion in 2004, $144 Billion in 2005, $154 Billion in 2006, $171 Billion in 2007, $220 Billion in 2008, $276 Billion in 2009, $297 Billion in 2010, $270 Billion in 2011, $244 Billion in 2012, $187 Billion in 2013, $144 Billion in 2014, $129 Billion in 2015, $125 Billion in 2016, $118 Billion in 2017, $146 Billion in 2018, $199 Billion in 2019, and we would save $251 Billion this year.

All together, if we would have capped defense spending at 2002 levels, we would have saved over $3 Trillion by 2019, and factoring in this year, we would be at nearly $3.3 Trillion in savings, and this isn't even factoring in the inevitable interest on the debt.

So the American Taxpayers have been screwed out of $3.3 Trillion, with nothing to show for it. We aren't any safer than we were in 2002, in fact, we are arguably less save, due to the destabilizing effects we have had on the region, which has led to the creation of groups like ISIS.

Imagine what could have been done with the $3.3 Trillion wasted on endless war. That money could have gone to giving every community in the US gig-speed fiber optic internet. That money could have gone to repairing the roads and bridges which desperately need it repairing, to dams and levees which are in critical need for maintenance to prevent flooding. That money could have gone to investing in America, where the people would benefit from it, but alas, that isn't what happened, it went to bombing poor people on the other side of the planet. We got stuck with $3.3 Trillion in debt, which hasn't benefited us at all.

America, we're being robbed.
