We continue the topic with the cons, but to be honest, I don't like it... Moreover, I don't consider them to be real disadvantages outweighing the advantages.
So, of the cons, the topic of public transport. And here the whole public transport system is completely different, and it won't work if you don't have a car to take public transport anywhere...
To begin with, let me explain what Los Angeles is like, it's a gigantic territory. For example, the Los Angeles County seat includes 88 cities, and its area is 10,570 square kilometers. But that's not all, there are other counties around, for example, Orange County or Ventura, to be honest, I do not know all the names of the counties, the total area of which, together with Los Angeles County, is about 200 square kilometers, you can spend up to 2 hours by car to get from the center to, for example, Santa Barbara or Irvine...
And of course, imagine how to get to all these locations... The surest and fastest way is by private car. Everything here is tailored for traveling by car: a huge number of roads and high-speed highways, with convenient interchanges. If you pass the right exit, it will immediately rearrange the route. Cheap gasoline, and the most interesting thing is that the price of gasoline can fall.
There are lots of rest stops, and all fast food outlets are equipped with Drive-thru, which is when you place an order without leaving your car... And of course, almost every adult has a private car. Teenagers can get their license as early as the age of 15.5, but there are restrictions (parental permission, you can not drive at night and on highways). You can already drive fully upon reaching the age of 18. Of course, elderly people suffer here, who have never driven a car and, coming here from the countries of the former USSR, are afraid to get behind the wheel... They have to ask for a ride or use public transportation.
So, as for public transport, these are: metro, buses, taxis.
They don't run as often as in Russian cities, because of the breadth of geography, it's not so easy to get from Irvine to downtown Los Angeles, for example... These are essentially different cities... The metro is not underground, it is often aboveground, or it sometimes crosses ordinary roads, but it is often a separate dedicated line fenced off for safety. There are regular buses and there are free ones, I wrote about the latter, if you want to ride them, get ready to ride with strange marginal personalities. Well, a taxi is an expensive pleasure, you don't run into it, but sometimes when you have to, you can use it...
This is not a disadvantage for me, I love to travel by private car, I have a license (it's not a problem to get a license here). Although when I came here, I was scared by public transport, but everything turned out to be different from what they described...

God has given man freedom of choice. And no other person has the right to take it away from you. I remain free and wish you all the same, to be free!

P.S
Let's do the math... a gallon of gasoline is $ 4-5, the price "runs", then lower, then higher, it takes $ 650 a month if you work right behind the wheel and drive all day. The average income per adult is $5,000, which is among those who have just arrived. The average American doesn't count gas money. Indeed, many people have powerful trucks here, where they pressed the trigger once and spent it like our Kia spends a day... There are a lot of hybrid cars and electric trains, an electric train is an expense of $ 150 per month. That's why we want to switch to an electric train or a hybrid... The insurance is full and good for the two of us, $200/month. And insurance is not provided for the car, but for the driver. That is, if I get behind any other car, then I am also insured. But if there is an accident, then my insurance will become more expensive. There are enough parking spaces, each house has parking spaces for the tenant personally, assigned to him in the garage under the house. There are plenty of shopping malls and shopping malls with large parking lots.
It turns out that with such a ride, it's a little over 12% of the income of 1 adult, it's not about anything at all, it's just a drop. Yes, the price per liter is not much higher, but the quality of gasoline and income...
In conclusion, I remembered an anecdote: an optimist in a cemetery sees only advantages around. Everywhere you look, there are only advantages...
There is no place on earth where there are only advantages. There are only advantages in paradise, apparently...
