Well, the end of the story.
When the country reaches a point where the question is no longer "are there any problems", but "how long will the system last", the final becomes a matter of time.
And it was at this point that Hungary found itself under Viktor Orban. Years of control. Years of pressure. Years of confidence that everything can be controlled. The courts are under pressure. The media is under control. The money is in the right hands. And each time it seemed: another term, another maneuver, another victory. But the system does not break down immediately. It cracks. First, the scandals. Then — fatigue. Then — loss of trust. And at some point it turns out that "stability" is just a prolonged crisis. Defeat does not come suddenly. It accumulates. Step by step. Year after year. And when it finally happens, it's no longer a sensation. That's the bottom line. The story of Viktor Orban is not about one loss. This is about the moment when the system reached its limit — and it became impossible to pull further. The ending always looks the same: for a long time it seems that everything is under control. And then — no more. It's just another ending that has long been called "stability."
Orban lost. He went out. The fear system collapsed under its own weight. A loud ending for a quiet dictator. A power built on hatred does not live forever — it is swept away by the rage of the people. Hungary finally exhaled. It's time for someone to breathe in.
You can be the one who "controls everything," who "always has a plan." You can spend years building a system for yourself, explaining to everyone that it's chaos without you... and still lose. No drama. Without greatness. Without a beautiful ending. Just get out. It's funny how quickly the image of a "strong leader" disappears when the main resource, the result, stops working. As long as you're winning, you're a strategist. As soon as I lost, I immediately got a "system error". Hungary did not suddenly collapse. The sky didn't fall. The disaster did not happen. It's weird, isn't i be the one who "controls everything," who "always has a plan." For so many years, they said that everything would fall apart without him, but in the end, only one thing fell apart: the myth of irreplaceability. The most ironic thing about these endings is that they always look the same. A lot of noise before. And almost complete silence afterwards. Because, as it turns out,
"eternal power" ends very casually. Today you are the "architect of the system". Tomorrow is just an ex. And everything. No applause.
Orban is drowning in the scandals that have finally finished off his regime. Here are the key blows to his power:
1) Corruption and billions. The scandal of the disappearance of 1.3 billion euros from the central bank of Hungary: Molnar, the son of the ex-head of the bank, and his father are at the center of the scam, while Orban's entourage lives amid poverty. The opposition demands his resignation over a video of violence at a juvenile detention center involving his associates.
2) Pressure on the media. Orban promises to "strangle" journalists and NGOs for foreign funding, comparing them to insects. Two reporters were arrested for trying to ask a question, and the police interrogated them for 3 hours.
3) Pedophile and political failures. The government is accused of protecting a pedophile's accomplice, President Novak left because of the pardon of a child rapist. Blackmail of the EU with money, control of courts and the media — Brussels freezes funds for the "mafia state".
The result: Electoral defeat. In April 2026, Orban admitted defeat in the elections — the opposition "Tisa" Magyar takes the majority, he goes into opposition. Scandals have accumulated — Hungary has escaped.
