I often hear statements that it would have been better if Stalin had attacked Germany first and then there would have been much fewer victims. I think that those who say this are talking too superficially and do not understand what they are talking about.

And fighting on foreign territory in new conditions, and even building logistics chains for the permanent supply of the army, is not an easy task. And even taking into account the effect of surprise, the state of the army and the command, with all its mistakes, would be the same.
Secondly, when Germany attacked, it found itself in the role of the aggressor, and the USSR in the role of the victim, having full moral superiority. Therefore, the USSR had allies, lend-lease, and other military and humanitarian aid. Otherwise, there would be no help. And it is not necessary to say that the help did not play any role. What would be a possible scenario?
Britain would hardly have sided with Germany, most likely it would have simply reduced military operations in western Europe and perhaps agreed to an armistice in order to restore strength with the support of the United States while Germany was fighting off the USSR.
At that time, Japan would have attacked the unprotected east instead of attacking the United States. Accordingly, the United States would have no reason to enter the war at all. The Japanese would have used impunity and very cruelly starting from Sakhalin and where they would have reached.

Therefore, there is no point in guessing about it. When the USSR defended itself against Germany, the truth was on its side.
