When the under-Fuhrer started the war on February 22, 2022, we made the difficult decision to leave, of course, we did not decide on the same day, it was torment, different thoughts, and doubts... It took us 3 months to do all this and get ready. In 3 months, we sold out everything we had, thanks Avito, we gave away a lot. All this was against the background of the fact that the youngest daughter had to finish school and take exams in the music room. I had to close the business and sell everything there. We learned how to use the crypt, although we didn't understand it at all before. I had to withdraw all my money. You won't believe it, but we sold the apartment 2 weeks before we left, completely by accident. On May 25, we had tickets to Almaty via Tashkent, and then from Almaty via Qatar to Los Angeles. It was already the beginning of May, and we hadn't even started anything with the apartment. And the background is that in January 2022 we were looking for an apartment, we wanted to team up with mom and take her home from Kazakhstan, do you remember what happened in Kazakhstan at the beginning of 2022? We were actively looking for a 3-room apartment, but, thank God, we did not find anything suitable at the time of February 22... So, on this topic, we met a young realtor, handsome, tall, blond, curly-haired, who looked like an angel... Naturally, after the start of the war, we left all this business and changed our minds about buying an apartment. But suddenly, on the days of May 14-15, this realtor shows up and asks if we still want to buy an apartment. And we said that now, on the contrary, we want to sell ours, and he finds a buyer for us in one day who is ready for anything, you understand, right? For everything! And for our amount, and I'm ready to give you a deposit immediately. We were even taken aback and were afraid that we would not be able to complete the transaction in time. As a result, 2 days before departure, we are all sitting with customers in our apartment and waiting for the approval of the deal, our daughter is taking exams, and an hour later we need to take Covid tests, then we couldn't fly without it. Everyone is in suspense, suddenly the information comes that the deal has passed, and immediately we receive our money. We run after the youngest to the music school, she doesn't take the call, I fly into the music room, grab her, rush to the Covid test. We throw money into the crypt. And the day before the flight, the husband sells the car and returns home on a scooter. We rent a car to get to the airport and finish minor chores, but the discharge stamp does not allow us to do this, that is, at that time we already did not have a residence permit. Some kind of manipulation, they uploaded an old copy of the registration page, where there was no stamp on the discharge yet, and still took the car. On the day of the flight, we wait for the new owners, give them the keys and... goodbye to our house, goodbye to our Peter...
It all came flooding back to me when I saw my old photos and videos... It is very useful to have archives from the past, memories...
It's summer all year round here in California right now... "cold St. Petersburg summer", gives way to a warm summer and then gives way to a hot summer... I live in a climate called the Mediterranean right now... But sometimes images of St. Petersburg Khrushchevs come up in my memory, a smelly front door, although what kind of front door it is, the word entrance is more appropriate. Cars covered with snow, wet boots, slush, dirty jeans, a bag with a change, a clogged bus, the noise of the subway, tokens, a queue at the checkout in Pyaterochka... And my heart aches for a moment... God, that was a long time ago, two years ago. It was in Russia, so it must have been a long time ago...
I love you, Peter, and I want to remember you free! When I was little, my parents and I planted trees under our windows. Dad planted a maple tree, Grandma and grandpa planted birch trees, Mom planted a rowan tree and I planted an oak tree.
Grandfather died, and so did his tree. Maple got sick, and when Dad died, he died too.
When my grandmother died, the birch tree disappeared, in my opinion it was cut down. There are rowan and oak trees under my former windows in St. Petersburg. Mom and I are alive... Only these trees are in St. Petersburg, and we are so far away from there now...
God has given man freedom of choice. And no other person has the right to take it away from you. I remain free and wish you all the same, to be free!
