But in fact, it turns out that it is not so difficult to get a huge number of people to believe nonsense and join the opinion of the "majority". Conformism is to blame for this!
What is it and what is it eaten with?
Conformism is a person's ability to adapt and accept ready-made standards and patterns of behavior, as well as categorically recognize existing norms, laws and rules under pressure from society or authorities.
Solomon Ash, an American Gestalt psychologist of Polish origin, studied the behavior of people and their tendency to change their own minds in favor of the majority opinion.
The psychologist set out to test whether the subject would be able to resist the majority opinion and maintain his point of view, while giving the correct answer. Unfortunately, his experiment, described in detail in the Asch's Conformity Experiment article, showed the opposite.
The results of the experiment were disappointing:
32% of the subjects who got into this situation agreed with the obviously incorrect answer, joining the fake members of the group.
75% of people partially gave the wrong answer together with the decoy participants in the experiment.
And only 25% have never agreed with the majority opinion.
Control tests showed that when taking this test alone, the subjects gave 99% of the correct answers, which once again confirms the theory of human conformity.

We become another faceless being in society, and ironically even more lonely.
Don't be ignorant towards each other. And think with your own head, because no one from above will miraculously do it for you.
