Without truth, there is no freedom and it is difficult to choose between good and evil. I have no illusions, but truth is a blessing for every single person, because, like Plato, Aquinas, and Aristotle, if you don't seek the truth and don't know it, you won't be able to truly distinguish good from bad, distinguish right from wrong, so we must strive for the truth in order to accept solutions. Our actions make the world a better place. (From the author of the blog).
Our lives depend on politics, unfortunately, we cannot throw it away and forget it... It makes itself felt every minute when we buy groceries, plan our lives, and work... Alas and Ah!
Dear friends! I realized at some point that I was becoming unhappy with all the world news. And if I could handle it before, now it seems that some kind of turning point has come. To restore my spiritual and spiritual strength, I took an information post. And I haven't watched or read any news for 4 days now. So I don't know anything about what happened in the last 4 days. And please don't tell me anything. These days, there are only videos with interesting educational topics, thoughts about your own business, English, sports, relatives, work... I plan my day so that I can visit one interesting place between shifts. I discovered many new locations, parks, and visited Hollywood Forever Cemetery, the perfect place to relax from the hustle and bustle and rethink life. And my condition has clearly improved. I understand that this is similar to the "head in the sand" position, many people have been living this way for a long time, but I need a pause and a reboot. I want to tell you about this cemetery, I'm sorry.
I got there by accident and everything happened spontaneously. The window was cleared after the first shift, and I was just in the Hollywood area. I opened Google Maps and started looking for a place nearby where I could go now in a short period of time, in work clothes and preferably for free. And suddenly the name "cemetery of famous people" caught my eye. A green area and a lake loomed on the map... Hmm, I thought, why not. I didn't know if the entrance was free or if it was a closed area, but I have a car, I have the time and the desire to check. In front of me was a wonderful park with peacocks walking freely, with a lake and fountains, clean paths, small cars, such as golf carts for 4-6 people. The entrance was free, cars entered the territory and stopped on the paths where they needed to, but there were not so many cars... At the very beginning of my walk through the cemetery, I immediately noticed Russian names and surnames in Cyrillic, Orthodox crosses, many Jewish surnames with crosses and stars of David, I saw all the famous Jewish surnames I had ever heard... Rubinstein, Levin, Landau, Kaplan, Shapiro, Mendelssohn and others. There are many Armenian names in Cyrillic and Armenian, and I even found 2 Korean surnames. According to the dates of birth and death, it was clear that many of these people came from the USSR, who had once left their country for America. Artists, scientists, officials, composers, actors, musicians...
The Hollywood Forever Cemetery is operational, it was founded in 1899.
Funeral services and memorial services are conducted there in different languages with the inclusion of different religious and ceremonial rites. There you can order the registration of the service of your choice. The cemetery hosts regular open-air film screenings, film screenings featuring movie stars from previous years who are buried there, and the program of film screenings often includes guided tours to the graves of celebrities. The cemetery is perfectly clean, workers cut the grass and polish the paths. The atmosphere is peaceful, conducive to looking at life from above, realizing that it is finite, thinking about what it is given to us and how we spend it. I do not know all the stars that are buried there, they are mostly old American stars, perhaps whom you do not even know. Among the famous ones for me, I found the grave of Joe Dassin, Charlie Chaplin, Oleg Vidov, Anton Yelchin.. If the first 2 names don't raise any questions, then I'll explain the 2 following names. Oleg Vidov is a Soviet actor who left the USSR in 1983 for Yugoslavia and then moved to the USA. Anton Yelchin is an American actor of Russian descent, who was born in St. Petersburg and absurdly died at the age of 27 from an accident.
Walking along these paths, I thought how many people left the country at different times, scattered all over the world. What kind of life did they have, did they find what they were looking for? Have you been pining or living your best life? In any case, they've all found peace here on California soil. I got aesthetic and intellectual pleasure from the new information. Well, at the same time, I honored the memory of all these people who have already passed away...
I am sharing this walk with you (watch the short video), as if we had been there together... The video was shot with all due respect to the deceased and their families...
