Why children's programs disappeared from TV.
The bygone era of “that same” TV.
What we watched when we came home from school on Channel 1 and what children have to watch now. Patriots, look, don’t you feel sorry for your children at all?
Five Minutes of Hate, anyone who has read Orwell will understand.
For a long time now, everything for children from the central channels has gone to its own channels. What was previously shown for 3 hours on the first channel or on STS is now shown on the carousel, on Nikolodion, there are both their own channels and those purchased from Europe. There are a lot of different programs and specialized channels for children. This publication deals with state TV channels, central television channels.
About 10 years ago, on the Channel One forum, many were indignant at the lack of children's programs. And things have gotten worse with music and sports on the channel. And there were people who said that this is how it should be, that children’s programs, educational programs, music and sports are now on separate channels, they say, look for them there. Interesting logic, but I don’t understand why they didn’t make a separate channel for shows with fights and showdowns? Why does this have a place on the main channel, but not cartoons? Soon the situation on First became even worse, and the daytime broadcast was given over to propaganda.
Nowadays on TV there is only incitement of hatred towards other countries. Inciting hatred between people and within the country... Inciting hatred during the day, and American films in the evening)))
About ten years ago, children were already forced out of television. Science shows disappeared, cartoons disappeared, children's films disappeared. TV really makes you sad. But, for example, thanks to STS in Russia, our generation loved Scooby Doo, they knew why a candle oscillates, they loved Drozdov. He was a meme in the pre-domain era
Obviously, we found cleaner TV than now. Sometimes I remember “Call of the Jungle”, and “Finest Hour”, and “Smart Guys”, and “In the World of Animals”, and Disney cartoons. I remember that in the evenings they showed intellectual games like “Fields of Miracles”, “The Weak Link”, “What, Where, When” and so on. Then “Good night, kids” and the news. And then we switched to MTV... Now TV, from being entertaining and even somewhat instructive, has turned into an arena for bullshit.
But there was a time when KiSh, GROB, Purgen, Gas Sector, Metal Corrosion, etc. were broadcast on MTV and MuzTV. And I’m already silent about “Money doesn’t smell” by Trachtenberg on MuzTV. Do you remember even earlier good programs “Morning Mail”, “While everyone is at home”, “Visiting a fairy tale”, “In the animal world”, “Good night, kids!”, “ABVGDeyka”? And from the later ones, “Finest Hour” and “Field of Miracles” (when Listyev was just starting to broadcast)?
The 90s were a golden time for young people in terms of the adequacy of TV. There was no naked propaganda, the media were truly free! Yes, there was economic instability, widespread poverty, but people didn’t have their brains cluttered on TV! And it was possible to grow up as a person with healthy critical thinking.
Yes, yes, come on, remember, cartoons about Aladdin, Hercules, Chip and Dale, The Jungle is Calling, Crazy Hands, MTV. And now trash, trash, trash! What children? What programs? Complete zombie! Tough and nothing more!
Youth series "Helen and Her Friends", Soviet fairy tales, which we watched with pleasure ("Don't Leave", "The Snow Queen", "Peter Pan" and many others). Very high quality and professional, talentedly created films and cartoons. There are a lot of cool children's programs and children's and teenage films ("You Never Even Dreamed of It", "Courier" and much more). You can still watch it with pleasure.
It was a different life, and it turns out we really were happy children despite all the severity of the 90s.

And the later generation, do you remember how you specially got up at 8 am in the summer to watch “Sailor Moon”, and then in the afternoon they also showed “Hey Arnold” and “As Ginger Says”? Moreover, these two series were useful for their age groups, since they raised different and real life situations. These also include the animated series “Daria” on MTV. And “12 Evil Spectators” taught us how to form and argue our opinions better than any school literature and rhetoric lessons. "Galileo" aroused curiosity, and Pushnoy was like a big child. There was also Sesame Street. Today's TV is a cross between dirty underwear, which is actively waved, and bestial cannibalism.
"Catdog", "SpongeBob", "Jimmy Neutron" - it was a bomb.
"Gummi Bears", "The Smurfs", "Chip and Dale".
On Ren-TV there was also “Spider-Man” and “X-Men”.
"Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles."
Nowadays there is no children’s content and cannot be on such television.
Good programs disappeared not only on TV, but also on YouTube began to disappear. And Roskomnadzor began to cleanse the Internet of nostalgia for the 2000s, so that now people would not be distracted from the gray reality, plunging into memories of the time when they were cheerful children and when everything seemed easy and simple, like in their favorite Disney cartoons, educational programs and TV series on good old STS. The authorities want us not to live in the past, not to miss our former freedom and not to want to get rid of the Old Man in order to return everything. The 2000s were a really good time, when the country could bloom like a flower, become creatively free, peaceful and democratic, but, unfortunately, in these damned 2020s, the country is blooming like mold in favor of dictatorship!
Even the 90s, despite its ugliness, gave a breath of freedom and hope for a better future. Now there is only darkness and hopelessness for many, many years.
In the late 90s - early 00s there were all sorts of TV series on STS: “Alf”, “Commissioner Rex”, then “Mukhtar”, “Parallel Worlds”.
And from the beginning, the older generation has occupied the box and is watching politics.
Recently, I have never found programs aimed not at patriotism or propaganda, but at educating the younger generation, which would show interesting and educational material, for example, you can remember “Galileo”.
My hometown is Omsk. I remember, in addition to the federal cool programs, there were also local cool programs for young people. For example, there was a program about night events in Omsk, about clubs, open airs, and what DJs came. Omsk had a cool nightlife in the 2000s. In the summer, every weekend there were open airs, a dozen nightclubs, musicians from all over the world constantly came. And at that time it seemed that it would only get worse, and then since 2010 everything disappeared, now there is simply nothing but propaganda.
Now I remember “Children’s Hour” and the youth musical “50/50”. We watched a lot of TV in the 90s and 00s about nature, about countries, youth series, sports shows. TV was kind and beautiful. I wanted to live after it!
"Up to 16 and older"
"Tower"
"Smart Men and Women"
"Love at first sight"
"Pun Pictures"
"Disney"
"Finest Hour"
"Sight"
"Peak hour"
"Last Hero"
"Fort Bayard"
"Dolls" on NTV
"Helen and the guys"
"Harry the Bigfoot"
"Beverly Hills 90210"
"Secret materials"
Cool films after the "Time" program on ORT and much, much more... Even the advertising was interesting, funny and different! God, it was a wonderful time. Bring back those times.

I remember “The Jungle is Calling” and “Disney Club”, cartoons on STS. At first there were separate programs, then there were entire channels, like Tele-nanny, Bibigon, etc. I remember how I was flying home from school, turning on TNT, brewing a drink or heating food from the refrigerator and watching “Jimmy Neutron”, “Cotops”, “SpongeBob”, “The Cool Beavers”. Then I flipped through STS and continued to look at Woody Woodpecker, The Adventures of Jackie Chan. I remember things like “Power Rangers”, “Inspector Gadget and the assembly of Foxkids cartoons on Ren TV”, “Goosebumps” and “Tales from the Crypt” on TV-3, “Galileo” on STS with Pushny.
“Dialogues about Animals” and “In the Animal World”, Cousteau’s program, “Under 16 and Over” and the “Jam” program... And other similar, more mature ones from the Culture channel, for example, the program “Century of Cinema” allowed you to watch world masterpieces. Television gave an understanding that the world is huge, diverse, and most importantly - OPEN.
What programs and programs there were! "Travelers' Club", "In the Animal World", "Obvious and Incredible", "Alarm Clock", "ABVGDEYKA", "Children's Hour".

Now after watching TV, the aftertaste is like being in a madhouse. Through the screen one senses manipulation and deliberate deception.
We have all seen how the programs that we liked to watch with our grandparents, with our mother are gradually disappearing...
TV was the whole world, we loved to watch it, and then use this knowledge in class to feel smart, TV could develop. Or some of us played games based on cartoons in the yard... We all have memories that cannot be changed.
Who remembers the series "Rebel Spirit"?
What about the MTV programs “Pimp My Ride” and “Home Home”?
Also, did anyone watch Brazilian TV series like “Family Ties” and “In the Name of Love” with grandma in the evening? Will anyone remember how they did their homework with “Wild Angel” and the show “Windows” with Nagiyev?
DuckTales, Black Cape, Grendizer, Sailor Moon, Pokemon, Echo Platoon, Transformers, Reboot, Xena, Hercules, Babylon 5, Lex.
I remember in the 2000s a huge number of children's programs: games on erudition, educational programs, some kind of program with children's letters to the studio and, of course, all sorts of cartoons, a huge number of foreign ones, all so interesting. We went early in the morning, especially on weekends, which was a great incentive to wake up early. By the way, after school during the day there were also cartoons on different channels and I wanted to watch everything; , and what about on another channel... On TV, this continued until about 2007 or 2008. There were also a HUGE number of children's magazines. And indeed, somehow by 2010 everything “for children” began to fade away, and if you ask younger people what cartoons they watch on TV, what programs they like - nothing, because only YouTube, and adult channels.
Those born in 2000 - 2002 still managed to jump into the last carriage with all these programs on TV. Then the children had nothing of this anymore. The next generation of children has not seen a truly free country, and most likely will not have time to see it.
Those who caught the last years of youth TV remember Disney, Nikolodeon, Hannah Montana, I Carly, Wizards of Waverly Place, in the end, Winx, SpongeBob, Hey Arnold, Galileo... In the end, after 2014, all this disappeared.
My pride now is the TV, which we gave away as unnecessary. The best thing now is to explain to your loved ones that the TV is no longer needed, that there are more interesting and more useful things around. And let the ratings of the central channels burn and crumble!
After all, TV used to be a friend. The pile of cartoons and programs exuded only goodness and happiness. And now you can click through all the channels, but not find the one. There were times, but now... Now there is incitement of hatred towards all neighbors.
Nowadays there is only propaganda on TV, and on TikTok and YouTube there are only jokes, pranks and reality videos for children, like “look how beautiful I am and how beautifully I live.” Today's children have nothing to see!
It feels like television used to educate both children and adults, but now it educates voters of different genders and ages.
“Friends”, “Your Own Director”, “Town”, “Pun” watched on weekends, wrote letters to the children’s “field of miracles”, cartoons, “call of the jungle”, “kuzyayaya”, “finest hour”, “until 16 and older”, “Helen and the boys”, “on winter holidays”, watched figure skating and skiing... And on weekends they showed Disney’s “Winnie the Pooh”, the cartoons were on for two hours, Woodley, Chip and Dale, Goofy, DuckTales, oh there was a time.
“Finest Hour”, “Call of the Jungle”, “Anthropology” with Dibrov, from which many learned about the group “The King and the Clown” and fell in love with them. “Dolls”, which were not yet understood by everyone due to their age, but then many were revised many years later. The program “The Last Hero” ended with the song of the same name by foreign agents Bi-2, which many still listen to with great pleasure. Well, Suponev was probably the best children's presenter!
Have you noticed that now, apart from TV, there are no children’s films? It is not removed at all. Children now grow up watching adult films (in every sense), and they are really beyond smart, but somehow unsmiling and narcissistic. The younger generation does not respect their elders at all. Lots of swearing and vulgarity. In general, it’s scary to see where this world is heading, and it’s painful to watch how spiritual and moral values, along with culture and kindness, become bad manners and disappear before our eyes. Children are raised as future soldiers, in whom it is interesting to develop only blind patriotism, and, God forbid, any smart thoughts, ambitions and desires, other than about the army.
After the dear and beloved leader came to power, Russian television turned into a tool for glorifying the dictator’s cult of personality. Criticism of the Chief is completely prohibited, all his actions are praised, and instead of useful and entertaining programs, they left Nazi chauvinist talk shows about Ukraine, as well as stupid series about cops, bandits, military and FSB agents
It used to be a cool time. On weekends there was an incentive to get up early so as not to miss the next release of the Disney cartoon selection. Yes, and from school I remember running home to watch Knight Rider, Hercules, Xena, Smallville, Charmed. Or on STS, when you just arrived, hungry, tired, and having barely changed clothes, you rather turn on this channel and, well, it’s like you go into a trance, immediately forgetting about all your problems. But then there were no smartphones and YouTube was just beginning to gain momentum. In general, there wasn’t much choice about WHAT and when you should watch. And yet, what was shown then was worth even watching endless advertising.
But now the time is different. And I think not only with us. With the development of technology, the popularization of platforms like Netflix and other subscription services, TV, in principle, is no longer needed by anyone. Well, except that it is still relevant for the older generation (50+). And if this generation is accustomed to TV, and can no longer “jump off”, no matter what alternatives appear, then for people 30+ and the younger generation, TV has long ceased to exist in its previous understanding. It is simply a relic of the past, like cassettes or CDs. No one will now buy music on CDs like before, mp3 collections? Why, when you have access to streaming services for a small monthly fee, where you have virtually unlimited access to music? Yes, it doesn’t belong to you like a CD and you won’t be able to put it on a flash drive to listen to it in the car, for example, or use it in a mix. But most people don't need this. The further we go, the more relevant the words from the song Dido - Life for rent become. In fact, it is true, nothing essentially belongs to us. And the little that belongs is temporary. So it is extremely unlikely that the era of “The Same” TV will ever repeat itself. Although for some time vinyl was considered a relic of the past, but now it is coming back into fashion. But this is different.
