How often do you actually use math? (Sometimes)

By cMasta | pmcmasta | 21 Mar 2021

There are a lot of scams. The latest pseudoscam I was involved in was also the last yield farm that I invested twenty dollars in: WyvernSwap, which recently closed their front-end. It would have been a decent idea if you could still use it. I guess I think it's funny to ask a developer if he needs more developers, but I nagged a pretty shitty job on LinkedIn so maybe I'm just desperate. Isn't crypto kind of like a job, too? It sure pays, as long as you're not too stupid.

I had a friend that turned into a panhandler. I let him give me a hundred dollars to stay in my rental house for a while, though, so does that make me just as bad? To be fair, he was one of those poor souls that took random cigarette butts out of the disposal and tried to smoke them, so he was kind of a disgusting pain. Should have bummed him more cigs, I guess. I quit smoking cigarettes at seven full years, four years ago, because they are actually very gross. Home-rolled mullein sticks were a good replacement for a couple of weeks before I quit. Mullein leaf is pretty good for the lungs, even if only in comparison to other things that are commonly smoked, so definitely try it if you like smoking but do not like smoking adulterated tobacco, paper, and dyes. A week soul-vacation probably also helped me finally destroy the habit.

I estimated the contribution of cigarette smoke to smog in China one time and got a rough 10^-3 parts. It could be orders of magnitude less, as I did not take automobiles into account. Still, ~10^-6 to 10^-3 parts corresponds specifically to 1700 ppm, or 0.17%, of CO2 produced by that and burning coal. It's concerning either way. Here is the calculation I made for you to check:

someone check this

Of course, smoking anything; even cannabis, which can also be good sometimes, is never good to do all the time (source). I know that you can definitely bond with a plant, and in that case you will also respect it. I just passed a pseudorandom home marijuana urine test after having smoked a small but packed bowl two days prior, then an official lab-based test the next day. Smoking infrequently is an okay place to be, assuming that my thoughts aren't clouded by a drug addiction or something...

Toluene inhalation can apparently be associated with using other drugs, too (source), so does that mean a painter might be more inclined to have some sort of mental disorder or drug problem? Toluene as a solvent is pretty common; it's methylbenzene, after all. Xylenes are used, too, and of course a little trimethylbenzene gets in the can sometimes. I guess that's a reason to buy higher-quality paint. Or not use paint at all... I'll take cochineal red over synthetic any day when I feel the need to dye something red (and think of it). That's in my food, too.

I guess you could argue cochineal red is kind of inhumane, and I couldn't defend that, but at least it has a good purpose of not being toxic (source). Or, I should say, may only cause allergic reactions in sensitive individuals (source).

A lot of people die because of drugs, and a lot of those deaths are medically intentional through the use of morphine. At least half of my grandparents were directly killed that way, and I'm not sure what they use to euthanize pets... Not to say it's ill-intentioned, but it happens.

Playing with your brain and body is serious stuff. There's a wrong way to do it, but also a pretty good way.

If it grows, or makes you grow, there's a good chance it can do something good and/or unique.

Growing any crop is more of a challenge to do well on a commercial scale (and even on a personal scale) if some herbivorous and/or many-egg-laying insects establish a colony on your food. Naturally, you might turn to a pesticide or similar chemical to keep your stuff safe. I'd try to keep it organic, but technically toluene is organic, too. And what do you even call bromine?

-- A halogen.

-- Yeah, I guess that's right.

Either way, that's why you want earth-gaia-love-bro organic stuff sometimes. If not, you'll be betting on your cancer being significantly less expensive than your inflows of money...

That is, unless you believe earth-gaia-love-bro guys are also so high that they don't even test for contaminants.

I believe in some of them.

Like Larabar. I'm not invested in that brand, but maybe I should be. They make food bars out of jujube.

And seriously

THAT IS MADE OUT OF DATES!

It is a good example of why I have faith in humans sometimes.

At one point, there was a wrapper recycling program (source). It closed on July 31st, 2018, but at least it existed.

I don't know, maybe I would think less of them if I saw their factory, but...

Maybe they have fields of jujube trees and bees with jujube honey and everything is awesome, except when you step on a little sun-fermented jujube, which is a little gross, but still awesome.

It's out there. I know it's out there, and we will find it.
