Let's See How My Interest Is Doing - 3.11.2020

I'm sure most of you have noticed that I really like investments that generate passive income. One of these forms of income is from earned interest on the initial investments. The two main products I use for this is Worthy and BlockFi. Both have interest rates that exceed 5%!

But today I reached a milestone for both accounts. In Worthy I have finally hit 250 bonds and within the BlockFi account I have reached 500 USDC. I figured this justified me giving you guys an update on what type of return I'd be looking at with these accounts.

Worthy

Now that we've reached 250 bonds that means that we are earning interest on the $2500 investment. This breaks down to the follow;

  • 34¢ a day
  • $2.38 a week
  • $10.54 a month
  • $124.10 a year

These figures are calculated without the option of reinvesting back into more bonds. Because of this, we can assume that the monthly and yearly numbers will be higher.

BlockFi

We reached 500 USDC in this account so that means we have at least $500. This account earns 8.6% interest so over time it will begin to grow faster than Worthy. That's okay though because they are two different types of financial products and both help me diversify. Let's see what BlockFi is earning me in interest;

  • 12¢ a day
  • 84¢ a week
  • $3.38 a month
  • $40.65 a year

Again, just like Worthy, these are figures calculated without reinvesting the earned interest. So we can safely assume that these numbers will be larger than the ones I just posted.

Summary

We are getting close to 50¢ a day in earned interest if we combined both accounts. Luckily both of these accounts calculate interest daily so it makes it easy to compare and contrast and even combine these accounts for statistical purposes. I think by the end of March or toward the beginning of April we will see a return of $15 a month between the two accounts.
