I, Too, Drank From The Tezos Faucet

Although I am new to the crypto world, I am never afraid to try and explore new things. Most learning is done by simply experimenting! In my endeavours to learn more about crypto - and Tezos specifically - I came across the Tezos Faucet.

Since I'm so NOT familiar with crypto the term faucet didn't mean much to me. But after further digging and reading I learned that a faucet is basically is stash of certain tokens that are meant to be given away to people in small increments to help boost awareness of the token. Think of it as someone giving away product samples to help gain publicity about their brand.

I was skeptical of the concept at first and didn't think it would work but after further thought I realized I had nothing to lose. I went to The faucet website and entered my Tezos address of choice (mine is the address that Coinbase provides). It gave me notification stating that my address was in the queue and that I could not enter again for the time being.

From what I have gathered you can only enter once ever 12 hours, and if you so get selected to get Tezos then you submit that address again after 24 hours. I could be wrong with the actuals on this but this is how the website functioned and portrayed the information to me.

So I let it sit for a while and didn't focus on it. But then I got a notification on Coinbase saying I was receiving some $XTZ. So I went to check it out and sure enough there was a pending transaction for .01 $XTZ for my account. Now, this is roughly worth 1¢ but that is still better than say... 0¢? Plus, the tokens automatically stake themselves in Coinbase so I'll let it compound with the rest of my tokens.

Basically, my first experience drinking from the Tezos Tap was a success even if it was a meager amount. I usually find posts taking about getting free crypto to be very spammy and sketchy but everything with Tezos and their corresponding websites seemed very official. There is a lot to be said about digital marketing.

Below is the screenshot of proof that it actually worked out for me! It doesn't hurt to try your luck at it each day, or each 12 hours!

Have you guys tried the faucet yet? Remember to drink responsibly!
