Argon is the chemical element of the periodic table which has as symbol Ar and as atomic number 18. It is a noble gas of period 3 and constitutes about 0.95% of the volume of the earth's atmosphere.
Argon is an extremely stable, odorless and tasteless chemical element. It is two and a half times more soluble in water than nitrogen, which has about the same solubility as oxygen. Argon is the cheapest alternative when nitrogen is not sufficiently inert.
Uses of Argon:
- is used in lighting engineering because it does not react with the incandescent filament of light bulbs, even at high temperatures when the diatomic nitrogen becomes unstable;
- as an inert gas shield in many forms of welding, for metals such as tungsten and titanium;
- as an inert cover in the manufacture of titanium and other highly reactive elements;
- as stirring agent in ladle during steel making;
- as a protective atmosphere in the growth of silicon and germanium crystals;
- argon-39 is used for many purposes, especially in the analysis of ice cores. It is also used to date aquifers;
- cryosurgery procedures such as cryoablation use liquid argon to destroy cancer cells;
- in surgery the argon scalpel is used for blood dissection / coagulation (example: liver parenchyma)
- divers use it to inflate drysuits for its thermal insulation properties;
- it is introduced into the double glazing in place of air to reduce thermal transmittance;
- for the measurement of neutrino oscillations from CERN in Geneva;
- to extinguish fires.
The giveaway
Argon is a noble gas and as such it flies away. Its supply is not high, but we have decided not to penalize the community, on the contrary we want to reward it by increasing the number of NFTs delivered in the giveaway.
The supply of Argon is 149 and 50% will be up for grabs in this giveaway:
- the 30 fastest users to comment on this article with their wax address will receive an Argon NFT as a gift (we will wait 20 comments before advertising the article)
- all other users who comment on the article by November 20th at 4pm CEST will participate in a draw of 45 NFTs
The project is growing fast and more and more people are becoming passionate about this path that we are doing together. It seems fair to reciprocate with a maxi giveaway of an NFT with low supply.

The Periodic Table NFT project
The Periodic Table NFT project aims to raise awareness of chemical elements in a modern key, basing the approach on blockchain and Non Fungible Token.
Day after day it will be possible to know the single elements that make up the table, to collect curiosities about each of them and about the table in general.
We are working to be able to learn, in a playful way, also what happens by combining the various elements.
The whole project is based on the collection of NFTs that can be bought on the site https://wax.atomichub.io/market?collection_name=periodicelem&order=desc&sort=created&symbol=WAX or by participating in simple giveaways published on publish0x.
