Bret and Tara were in mutual understanding that they would remain as friends. Both of them were very comfortable and carefree so no one would want to take things to the next level. Whatever happens, will happen so they said. Like the kind of no string attached things and they don’t want to spoil any moments with an emotional downpour. Perhaps both were just too scared committing to a relationship, nonetheless, they're the best of friends every one at the office witnessed.
They had given a week project to finish and one has to ensure that the other would have a share of things to say.
"Bret, you have to cover me up, I have a date tonight!" Tara informed him.
"Oh wow sweetheart, I was so busy with our project and here you are informing me you have a date, what a shame if I wouldn't allow you to go out. Just make sure you would call me to pick you up. You will do the same for me next week." He cut the call.
She called again.
"Hey, you haven't informed me about it, do I even know her?"
"You will meet her when the time comes!" he sounded mischievous.
"Ew, Bret, why do I have a feeling, I won’t like her. Either she's a brat like the last time or that arrogant whatever supermodel she called herself. I must like her before you would ask me to cover you up!"
"You will like her sweetheart. I promise. Enjoy your date."
As expected she happily informed him about Dex. They will be going out for the second time around and she couldn't contain her excitement. They were doing wall climbing that day.
"Well, that's good to hear. Anyways, remember that 'cover-up stuff' I told you about? Just be nice because she's coming this way."
Tara was confused, literally not prepared with the meeting Bret has planned. That day was supposed there's. She didn’t invite Dex to come so it's not fair if he would invite her.
A stunning lady approached them, planted hugs and kisses on Dex even at her expense. Tara was fuming. She's cursing at the back of her mind.
"Excuse me, you guys can get a room!"
"hmm sorry about that, I'm Exel."
"Hey, Tara, Exel will be joining us today as she adores wall climbing.
I was thinking it would be the best time to introduce you both to one another."
Bret was pleased. Her day was spoilt already seeing how these two flirted with one another. She wanted to puke. But deep inside she's jealous. No, she can't be. Tara can't hold it and told him she's leaving early. She didn't wait for his reply. She's hurt for whatever reason she couldn't understand herself.
Later that night, someone knocked on her door. As she peeped in, confused to see a delivery boy.
"Ms. Tara Palmyre?" inquired the delivery boy.
"Yes? How may I help you?"
"Kindly sign this for me."
"But I didn't order a pizza?"
"Just sign this ma'am, so I could go to my next delivery!"
Without further information from the delivery boy, she said,
"Hey I am not taking this because I did not order a pizza. There must have been a mistake!"
Timely her phone rang,
"I am coming in to dine with your favourite pizza. I was thinking of sending it earlier so you could take a bite before my arrival. I would be a bit, late sweetheart!"
"Don't you dare call me sweetheart again and don't come tonight? I won't let you in."
The delivery boy was waiting patiently still and a bit amused, kinda eavesdropping.
"You will sign now maam?"
"Take this pizza with you. I am not accepting this. Consider it as a gift instead."
An hour later, she's enjoying her time on the couch exactly 8 pm. She heard another knocked and at the same time a call,
"Darling open the door for me, your neighbours might find it disturbing, seeing me outside."
"I am about to sleep, go back tomorrow!" now her irritation kept creeping in.
"Come on Tara, I know I have to explain myself. I'm sorry!"
The door opened but not letting him in. Not just yet!
"You know it was supposedly our day and you didn’t even inform me. I did not invite Dex because I respected our time together." She bluntly stated. He found a way to get inside.
"Why do I have a feeling, you are jealous?" he's teasing.
"Wow the nerve Bret, such ego eh!" her cheeks were hot red. She couldn't be blushing.
"hmm, so you will be okay if next week she will join our wall climbing again, since you are not JEALOUS?" he winked.
"I shall take Dex with me too?"
"Dare you?" he queried.
"Dare me!" I retorted.
