I visited the ruins of an 18th-century skate park today. Built in 1774 by a bunch of 18th-century Gen-X kids posing as Catholic missionaries, it is a testament to the power of persuasion. "Sure, we'll build you a church," said Catholic Beavis to the Pope. "Just send us to an idyllic climate with no oppressive institutions and give us lots of instant concrete, and we'll build you the best skate park, I mean mission, in the whole new world."
