Hello,
My name is Nathan Payne, and I am currently living in a van in the woods near Silverton, Colorado with my cat friend, Louie. It's super peaceful, pointless, and boring. We are going pleasurably crazy listening to the birds serenade the creek rushing by like a freight train full of time, running away at speeds that are extreme. The time has come to head on down the line.
As you may be aware, I spent the last holiday season in Mexico City, meeting with production companies about the film American Migrant, which would have charted the progress of an undocumented gringo songwriter across Mexico, and through the border. The meetings were good, but it didn't go anywhere. In the end, I took the trip alone, and only recorded random segments of the drive itself, without much commentary.
Because we are broke, and don't have anywhere to stay, me and Louie have decided to make the sequel to the non-existent original film. American Migrant 2: Burgers With Dust will perhaps be the only standalone sequel ever made.
The film will chart our progress from Colorado to Texas, where we will play a show in the Ft. Worth/Weatherford area before heading into Mexico, with the goal of building a recording studio in Mexico City to record Road Rats, the working title of my next album. The studio may consist of nothing more than a mic set up in the kitchen. Or maybe it will evolve into something greater. Time will tell.
I have recently joined all the social media platforms necessary for the attention required to fund both the trip and the recording. My interaction with those cop boards will be much more active than I am accustomed to. So it goes.
