I recently sent the lyrics to "El Corrido de Jesucristo" to a Mexican friend of mine, in the hopes that she would find it encouraging.  She did.  In the same spirit, and for her benefit, here's the demo of a gospel song for stray dogs I wrote in 2019.  The prideful and self-righteous aren't going to make it, but truly "the LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit" (Psalm 34:18).

Ya casi llegamos a hogar, hermana.

Gracias por escuchar.

El Perro Callejero

El perro callejero
sin amor
sin dinero
ignorado por el mundo
pero amado por Dios

Perro callejero,
mi desaliñado amigo,
no tengas miedo
Jesús está contigo

Perro callejero,
solitario y triste,
el Señor esta cerca
de ellos con el corazón quebrantado

Perro callejero
eres bendecido,
Jesús salva a los de espíritu contrito

    Si el Hijo te hace libre,

lisiado

The Stray Dog

The stray dog
without love,
without money,
ignored by the world
but loved by God

Street dog,
my scruffy friend,
do not be afraid
Jesus is with you

Street dog,
lonely and sad
the Lord is near
to those with a broken heart

Street dog,
you are blessed
Jesus saves those with a contrite spirit

    If the Son sets you free,
    you will certainly be free
    put your affection on things above
    not in the things of the earth

Street dog,
crippled
and tired,
listen to the words of the Lord Jesus Christ:

Come to me,
all of you
who labor and are heavy laden,
and I will give you rest

    If the Son sets you free,
    you will certainly be free
    my life belongs to God
    I'm not afraid to die
