I first bought some WAX a while back in order to play a game, of course. I was diligent in collecting my daily staking rewards, because...free tokens. Sure, it's not a lot, unless you stake a pile of them, but free is good. Recently though, I discovered that I had been missing out on a nice piece of the pie still.

WAX has a program call the WAX Genesis Block Rewards of which I had never head of and knew nothing about. It turns out that, back in 2019, the creators of WAX developed a special incentive for convincing people to stake tokens for added liquidity. I won't rehash all of the details here, but I'll post some links to a few resources to read up on it at the end of this article. The short form is that the Genesis Block Rewards program accrues tokens based on how much you have staked, and effectively doubles your staked coins over a 3 year period. 

For me, this turned out to be a relatively minor windfall, but it was noticeable in my WAX portfolio. It also made a bit of a difference in a couple of the games I play - the ever present issue with WAX resources was almost entirely eliminated for me. This was mostly due to my having never checked it in the year and a half period that I'd staked some WAX tokens. I essentially got a 50% bump in my staked tokens between one second and the next.

It is definitely worth looking at if you have some WAX staked and have never heard of this - the Genesis Block rewards accrue, so you will have not missed anything but the compounding effect. That's a bit of a kick to the seeds, but now is the perfect time to cash it in and get the sweet compounding effect going.
