1. Ethereum decentralized exchange monthly volumes hit all-time-high
Decentralized exchanges (DEX) on Ethereum just recorded their highest monthly trading volume, according to data from Ethereum analytics site Dune Analytics. In February 2020, DEXs logged over $372M in trading volume, a 62% increase from the month prior. February's volume overtook the previous all-time-high volume of $358M in July 2019. 4. Kraken Donates 17.5 Bitcoin to Collaborative Hackerspace Noisebridge
U.S. based cryptocurrency exchange Kraken donated 17.5 Bitcoin – equivalent to about $156,000 at the time – to San Francisco’s anarchist hackerspace Noisebridge to keep the space running. The ammount had been deposited into Noisebridge’s cryptocurrency wallet. 5. UK Startup Puts Haitian Farmers and Their Crops On the Blockchain
A UK tech company recently announced a blockchain ecosystem for farmers in Haiti, bringing clarity to the supply chain while bolstering sales. Agriledger, a blockchain outfit based in the UK, was responsible for building this new ecosystem. Their goal was ensuring that farmers receive adequate pay for their crops. 6. Ripple Says Stablecoins Could be Created on XRP Ledger
Blockchain-based financial services network RippleNet provides a safe, convenient, and easy-to-use wallet for holders of the cryptocurrency XRP, and the features to their system’s ledger may be expanding. Soon they may be able to take advantage of a feature on the network which would allow them to mint asset-backed tokens like stablecoins on the XRP ledger. 7. Binance Integrates with a Bank for the First Time Ever
Binance Crypto Exhange for the first time, is collaborating with one of the leading Turkish bank which will be merging its services with the exchange which will allow for easy deposits and withdrawals of Turkish Lira. As per the announcement, the exchange unveiled it would be integrating with Akbank one of the leading banks in Turkey. 8. Bitcoin Hash Rate Hits New All-Time High
The hash rate of the most valuable cryptocurrency has reached another all-time high of up to 136 quintillion hashes per second, making the Bitcoin network stronger. New data from blockchain.com has come in, saying that on March 1 the Bitcoin hash rate reached value of 136,264,980 TH/s. The previous all-time high, on February 1, was 119 EH/s. Hash rate refers to the combined computing power that miners are dedicating to validating transactions on the Bitcoin blockchain. So far it looks like more mining rigs are joining the network. 9. Lloyd's Of London To Insure Against Cryptocurrency Theft
Insurance giant Lloyd’s of London will provide a new type of liability insurance policy to protect crypto in hot wallets. Lloyd’s new offering was developed by Lloyd’s syndicate Atrium together with crypto will-focused firm Coincover, with limits from as little as $1,275. It is a new type of liability insurance policy with a dynamic limit that increases or decreases in line with the price changes of crypto assets, the insured will always be indemnified for the underlying value of their managed asset.
