1. New York residents can now trade USDC and Zcash on Coinbase
After dropping zcash in its U.K. operation last year, Coinbase has now added the privacy enhancing cryptocurrency in New York state. The San Francisco-based crypto exchange announced the news in a tweet on Monday, saying that the state's residents can now buy, sell, convert, send, receive, store and exchange zcash (ZTC) on Coinbase.com, as well as in its iOS and Android apps. 2. Tom Lee: Bitcoin Will Beat Dow Jones to $40,000
During his recent appearance on CNBC's 'Power Lunch,' Fundstrat Global Advisors co-founder, Tom Lee predicted that the Bitcoin (BTC) price could witness a moonshot to $40,000 this year. His bullish prediction comes after the coin took a nosedive below $10,000. The Fundstrat analyst thinks the Dow Jones Industrial Average would be first in a race to 30,000. 3. German Bank to Offer Tokenized Securities Based on Stellar
Munich-based Bank von der Heydt, established in 1754, announced it had partnered with blockchain financial services provider Bitbond to help integrate tokenization into its established securitization platform. The partnership will allow the bank to tokenize digital securities onto the Stellar blockchain, which it can offer to institutional clients via private placements. The solution received approval from the German financial regulator BaFin. Clients will be able to convert euros into stablecoins, which can also be stored in the bank's custody solution. 4. Google Joins Hedera Hashgraph’s Governing Council
Google is joining the Hedera Hashgraph Governing Council as a member and node maintainer, after the project used Google Cloud to host parts of its ledger. Hedera is set to use Google Cloud to host its public testnets and Hedera Consensus Service ecosystem. As part of its commitment, Google Cloud will operate a Hedera network node. It will also provide access to its ledger data on its public cloud datasets, which include block information from blockchains such as Bitcoin and Ethereum. Read Full on Cointelegraph
5. Fed Chairman Favoring Private Transactions On Cyptocurrencies
Fed Chairman Jerome Powell testified this morning in front of the House Financial Services Committee, on the state of the U.S. economy and monetary policy. During his testimony, Powell also spoke out in support of private cryptocurrency transactions, such as those offered by privacy coins like Monero, and Z-cash. The Chairman admitted that a fully transparent system where everyone can see everyone else’s financial transactions and balances is not ideal for the US economy. Read Full on Twitter
6. Ethereum Accelerates to Seven-Month High
Ethereum, which has been on fire this year, is leading the pack smashing through resistance and hitting a seven-month high. Cryptocurrency markets have expanded by almost $20 billion over the past 24 hours as total capitalization closes in on $300 billion. This is the highest it has been since mid-August, six months ago. 7. Egypt’s largest bank joins RippleNet for remittances
The National Bank of Egypt (NBE), the country’s biggest bank by total assets, has joined Ripple’s blockchain-based payments network RippleNet for cross-border payments. NBE is claiming to be the first bank in Egypt to use blockchain technology. The bank is seeking to facilitate faster and cheaper cross-border payments via RippleNet. Egypt is one of the top five remittance recipient countries, according to figures from the World Bank. Migrants sent $29 billion worth of funds in 2018 alone to the Middle East country. 8. Ethereum dominates the dapp ecosystem in 2020
Ethereum’s decentralized application (dapp) ecosystem had a strong start in 2020. Its Games and Marketplaces category takes the lead in terms of daily unique active wallets growth, showing an increase of 163% over the last year. Active daily wallets in the category also account for 58% of the total dapp activity on the Ethereum network. TRON is also showing strong growth, its user base is up 33% compared to January 2019.
