1. Venezuelans Can Now Send Bitcoin Without Internet
Venezuelan crypto exchange has developed a service that supports crypto payments via SMS text messages. Poor internet service will no longer be an obstacle for Venezuelans to pay with crypto. The Venezuelan exchange Criptolago announced, the launch of a service that processes crypto transactions via a text message, no Internet connection required. 2. Ripple Integration Brings Instant Payments to Thailand
Digital money transfer service, Azimo, has partnered with Siam Commercial Bank (SCB), the oldest bank in Thailand, to launch an instant cross-border payments service from Europe to Thailand through Ripple’s global payments network, RippleNet. The solution aims to solve the challenges of expensive and unreliable global payments. 3. Nearly 2M ETH Is Margin-Long on Bitfinex
Hong Kong Based Cryptocurrency exchange Bitfinex, is seeing an important number of retail investors entering long Ether positions. Almost 90% of all ETH margin traders are longing ETH on the exchange. At the time of writing, close to 90% of margin traders are now long on Bitfinex, totaling some $314M. The chief executive of Coinbase says a number of relatively new crypto assets are poised to challenge the existing financial system. Brian Armstrong says privacy coins like Zcash and Monero, although controversial, hold the promise of creating a far more secure financial system that can protect consumers’ sensitive data.
