Struggling Arsenal hosted West Bromwich Albion and with both in need of the points, it's undecided what the outcome of this match would be. Arsenal stepped up and condemned West Brom to relegation to make it their 11th top-flight relegation and 5th from the Premier League as they share that record with Norwich. This is also Sam Allardyce's first relegation as a manager.
Pereira had a lovely curling effort in the 12th minute after getting the ball. He missed narrowly. 2 minutes after, Robinson's effort rattled the crossbar but it wouldn't have counted if it went in any way because he was off.
In the 15th minute, Pereira was at it again but this time around his effort was off target after a brilliant long-range strike. Saka also had the chance to give his side the lead in the 16th minute but he was brilliantly tackled in the box. Not long after, Saka raced through and put a lovely ball across the face of the goal but no one was there to connect with it and the opportunity went begging.
West Brom came close again when a brilliant corner was delivered into the box but Diagne was unable to poke it home. Elneny tried his luck from just outside the box too in the 21st minute but Sam Johnstones easily gathered his effort.
Arsenal got their breakthrough in the 29th minute when Saka's raid down the left flank yielded dividend as his cross into the box was brilliantly converted with an accurate hit by Smith-Rowe to make it 1-0. 6 minutes after, Pepe produced a wonderful curling effort from the edge of the box to make it 2-0. It was a beautiful goal. He had time and the accuracy was perfect.
A lovely counter-attack was started by Leno and Ceballos found Saka at the side. His lovely and inviting low ball into the box was missed by both Martinelli and Smith-Rowe. That should have been 3-0.
West Brom gave themselves a lifeline when Pereira ran the whole length of the field and was unchecked till he had a clear sight at goal. He brilliantly and expertly found the bottom corner - far from the reach of Leno to half the deficit, 2-1.
Furlong should have added a second to make it 2-2 when a great cross into the box was met with his head. He steered too wide and the ball went out. What a chance that was.
Willian condemned West Brom to relegation in the 91st minute when his expertly taken freekick found the back of the net after he aimed for the top left corner of the post. He registered his first goal for Arsenal in an emphatic fashion.
Arsenal won 3-1 and took a step towards getting a slot in Europe.
