Week 6 NFL Game Picks

By PapaT | NFL Fantasy Football | 17 Oct 2020

Hey there NFL and fantasy football fans.  We are kicking off a late Week 6 this year with the Thursday night game being pushed back.  This week, barring any more set backs, we will have 2 Monday night games, with the rest of the games being played on Sunday.  Here are my picks for this week.

Teams on a Bye - Los Angeles Chargers (1-4), Las Vegas Raiders (3-2), New Orleans Saints (3-2), and Seattle Seahawks (5-0)

Sunday Morning Games (1300 EST/1000 PST) -

Denver Broncos (1-3) at New England Patriots (2-2):

Winner - New England Patriots

With the extra time off to prepare for this game due to a forced bye week last week (COVID amongst some of the players), I expect Bill Bellicheck to have had plenty of time to scheme up a winning gameplan (cheating or not cheating).  It is looking like Lock will be coming back under the helm for the Broncos, but it may not be enough.  Another Patriots player tested positive on Friday, forcing the Pats to cancel practice.  Let's see if the game is even played.

Houston Texans (1-4) at Tennessee Titans (4-0):

Winner - Tennessee Titans

Titans are on a roll.  Henry continues to chug along and Tannehill is coming off of a 4 TD day (3 passing and 1 rushing).  They should be able to continue rolling over a Texans team that just isn't the same without Deandre Hopkins.

Cleveland Browns (4-1) at Pittsburgh Steelers (4-0)

Winner - Pittsburgh Steelers

Brown are 4-1.  Yup, you read that right.  Although this lines up to be a tight divisional game, I expect Mayfield to do Mayfield things and turn the ball over against a stout Steelers defense.  Steelers at home is usually a safe bet and I wouldn't stray far from that this week.

Baltimore Ravens (4-1) at Philadelphia Eagles (1-3-1)

Winner - Baltimore Ravens

What is going on in Philly these days??  Ertz has been a huge letdown for fantasy owners this year.  The same can be said for Wentz.  The Ravens defense could probably win this game by themselves.

Fantasy Advice: Stash JK Dobbins if you have the space.  Still a risky move due to the true running back by committee approach Baltimore uses, plus Lamar Jackson running at goal line.  This may be more of a dynasty roster consideration to stash Dobbins.  An Ingram injury could change everything though.

Washington Football Team (1-4) at New York Giants (0-5)

Winner - Washington Football Team

Has the makings to instantly become a classic game for all generat....yeah right who am I kidding.  Does have the potential for some late game scoring.  Surprisingly though, the Giants currently have the 7th ranked DEF in fantasy scoring and Redskins (I mean Football Team whatever the hell that is) is ranked 12th.  Giants had no chance this season after losing Barkley.  At least they'd have a shot at the first round picks if it weren't for the Jets.

Atlanta Falcons (0-5) at Minnesota Vikings (1-4)

Winner - Minnesota Vikings

Dalvin Cook is out this week.  Normally, a team losing their stud staring RB would be a disaster, but the Vikings have Mattison waiting in the wings.  The way he plays, it looks like he has wings sometimes.  Falcons have failed to produce anything this season despite a hot start to the season by Matt Ryan.  Since then, he has thrown more INTs than TDs.  I don't expect that trend to continue this week, but I wouldn't be surprised if the Falcons blew a 28-3 lead.

Detroit Lions (1-3) at Jacksonville Jaguars (1-4)

Winner - Jacksonville Jaguars

This one could be a tossup.  But teams have shown flashes of playing well and of playing terribly.  Whoever wins this week will come down to which teams show up.  James Robinson continues to be a rising star in the league and will bounce back from his lowest scoring week last week.

Cincinnati Bengals (1-3-1) at Indianopolis Colts (3-2)

Winner - Indianapolis Colts

New QB for both teams this season.  One is a rookie, one has 58 kids that we know of.  Rivers has played decent in his new home and the Colts defense continues to play well.  Burrows shows flashes of why he was the overall number 1 pick in the draft in the offseason.  He also shows flashes of being a rookie.  AJ Green has disappeared, Higgins and Boyd are playing well for the WR position and Mixon continues to be a solid RB.  Colts defense wins this one.

Chicago Bears (4-1) at Carolina Panthers (3-2)

Winner - Carolina Panthers

Bears are a sneaky 4-1 this season.  Bridgewater is playing great so far this season and Mike Davis makes the team forget about having lost CMC all those weeks and possibly until week 8 or longer.  I'll give the home field advantage to the Panthers.  Big ups go to Foles though, who has been playing solid since taking the reins over from Trubisky.

Sunday Afternoon Games-

1605 EST/1205 PST

New York Jets (0-5) at Miami Dolphins (2-3)

Winner - Miami Dolphins

The Jets are terrible.  Releasing your "best" player more than likely isn't going to help either.  Yes, Bell is a cancer for teams.  Yes, he has been terrible since returning from his holdout.  Yes, the Jets are terrible.  Oh wait, I already said that.  Miami has been on a hot streak lately and will continue to do so.

Upset Alert: With that being said above, I see the chance for the Jets to win this one.  They may be fired up to prove a point after releasing Bell.  Plus, never rule out anything in a rivalry divisional game.

1625 EST/1225 PST

Green Bay Packers (4-0) at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-2)

Winner - Green Bay Packers

Brady vs. Rodgers.  Matchup for the ages.  Brady is adjusting to his new team.  But, the fact that Rodgers isn't, plus the return of Davante Adams makes this a no brainer for a Packers win.  Mike Evans has disappeared this year, but after the lashing Brady gave his offensive line last week on the sidelines, I wouldn't be surprised for a very high scoring game.  Great for fantasy owners.

Sunday Night Game (2020 EST/1720 PST)-

Los Angeles Rams (4-1) at San Francisco 49ers (2-3)

Winner - San Francisco 49ers

Though divisional matchup for the Rams, who historically haven't played their best against the Niners.  Slight edge to the Niners here in what I expect to be a low scoring game.

Monday Games-

1700 EST/1400 PST

Kansas City Chiefs (4-1) at Buffalo Bills (4-1)

Winner - Kansas City Chiefs

In a game that was originally scheduled to be played on Thursday, but was moved to the early Monday slot due to the Bills also having their week 5 game postponed to Tuesday.  Which, would have meant they would have played twice in three days.  Good move NFL.  Josh Allen is a stud.  But, Mahomes is MVP.

2015 EST/1715 PST

Arizona Cardinals (3-2) at Dallas Cowboys (2-3)

Winner - Dallas Cowboys

Losing Dak for the season is huge.  But, having a veteran like the Red Rocket Andy Dalton as a backup has to make Dallas feel more comfortable.  Right??  Dalton will throw up some picks, but remember he's been playing behind Cincinnati's horrific offensive line his entire career.  Let's see what he can do now with an above average unit.

Good luck this week!
