By author_nan | News | 7 Oct 2020

Ripple Executive Chairman Chris Larsen has offered a stern opinion of the regulatory environment in the United States, to the point where he said that it could push Ripple out of the country. Larsen made the comments during a virtual interview at the LA Blockchain Summit on October 6.

  • The primary question that is being debated is whether XRP is a security; this has been at the centre of discussions with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)
  • Ripple has said that even if it holds a lot of XRP, the network itself is decentralized, exempting it from securities laws
  • Larsen said that if Ripple were to relocate out of the US, the UK or Singapore would be likely destinations
  • Larsen also suggests that a Biden administration would be more favourable towards the US cryptocurrency industry
  • Ripple filed a lawsuit against YouTube over scams on the platform;which Steve Wozniak is also doing
