On August 8, blockchain data platform Longhash revealed on Twitter that over 10,000 blockchain companies had been established in China in 2020. In only 7 months, 2020 has nearly matched the figure from 2019 and is at just under half as that of 2018.
- 84,410 companies have registered, with 29,340 companies are in operation
- Most companies are located in the Guangdong province
- Nearly 50% of companies are registered with a capital of 5,000,000 Renminbi (approximately $720,000) or less
- 2019 saw 13,885 companies launched, while 2018 was the runaway year for the industry with 18,500 launches
