China’s Center for Information and Industry Development (CCID), which periodically released a ranking of blockchains, published the latest version of its rankings on April 10. The 17th edition of the Global Public Chain Technology Evaluation Index sees EOS, TRON and Ethereum take the first 3 spots.
Bitcoin, meanwhile, ranks 14th, down 3 places from the last edition. However, Bitcoin ranks highest in creativity, while TRON and Ethereum rank highest in basic technology and applicability respectively. The top 3 tokens remain unchanged from the last edition.
The rankings may come as a surprise to some, but those who have read previous editions will know that the evaluation index in question has a habit of supporting DApp focused blockchains. The institute claims to use three criteria - basic technology, applicability and creativity - to evaluate a blockchain. There are a total of 37 projects on the list.

The Blockchain Research Institute, a research arm of the CCID that is responsible for the rankings, publishes these rankings every 2 months. Results are taken with a grain of salt, but they do offer some insight into the sentiment in China.
China itself has shifted resources towards blockchain research and development, with the most notable development being that of a Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC). Several projects, like NEO and VeChain, have already taken steps to integrate the technology into various sectors, including that of administration and the supply chain.
