BitMEX has announced that Arthur Hayes is no longer the CEO of the exchange, temporarily being replaced by 100x Group COO Vivien Khoo, according to a statement published on October 8.
- Arthur Hayes has been replaced by Viven Khoo, following the two cases that BitMEX is facing in the United States
- CTO Samuel Reed, co-founder Ben Delo and Greg Dwyer, who are all also named in the SEC lawsuit, will also step down from their respective positions
- BitMEX has taken these decision in order to continue operating the exchange as normal, which has come under fire for a lack of KYC/AML procedures
- The exchange has seen an exodus of users following the announcement of the cases in early October, with over 45,000 Bitcoin having been withdrawn
