Elon Musk's Latest Move

According to some rumors relaunched by Bloomberg, Elon Musk is considering adopting blockchain as the main “weapon” to achieve the objectives of cutting public spending set by the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

Recently created, the new agency was designed precisely to significantly reduce US “federal” spending, and Elon Musk, at its helm, is already considering various solutions.

Blockchain could be useful first of all to monitor government spending, but also to protect all associated data and make payments.

According to Bloomberg, some affiliates of the agency have already considered various blockchain projects, but there are no clues as to which public networks could be exploited.

Moreover, not much more is known about the other aspects of DOGE, which according to the Wall Street Journal would like to operate as anonymously as possible. According to the newspaper, the members of the government agency themselves would exchange messages via Signal, to keep the activities carried out largely secret.

It is not even known, for example, whether Elon Musk will be supported by other professionals to lead DOGE. It was thought that one of these could be the Republican Vivek Ramaswamy, but in recent days rumors have become insistent about his candidacy for governor of Ohio.

Curiously, Chengpeng Zhao, former CEO of Binance, also intervened on the subject, welcoming a possible adoption of blockchain at the government level. “All governments should track all their spending on the blockchain, an immutable public ledger,” CZ said. “It’s called ‘government spending’ for a reason.”
