Nonantola is a town located about 10 km northeastward from Modena.
I was returning from a survey in the lower plain when I passed through Nonantola and I said to myself: why not?

I stopped the car for a quick hike in the old part of the town.

It was around 1 o'clock p.m.: the ideal time to take photos as there were very few people around.

It was not so difficult to find the streets almost deserted...

and the arcede too.

And I also found the square completely deserted apart from the birds flying in the sky.

The abbey has a very important historical significance that dates back to the Middle Ages. We'll see it in a next post ... (to be continued)
