Here we are at the fourth episode of urban hiking in the old town of Modena city.
If you are interested you will find the first and second episodes here:
I left the cathedral by walking under the arcades along the main road that crosses the city: the Via Emilia ...

... leaving behind my shoulders the Ghirlandina: the bell tower of the cathedral

After a short walk, I turned to my left (I was walking eastward) taking another important street in the old town: Via Farini. The target of my walik was at the end of the road: ...

... the Ducal Palace.

It is possible to enter only on certain occasions as it is now the headquarters of the Military Academy, an old and very famous institution well known not only in Italy but also outside.

The square in front of the Ducal Palast is very large, (around 140 m by 40 m) with fountains and cobbled pavement.

Obviously, many of the buildings have arcades.

Here ends my short tour of the historic center of the city of Modena.
All images were taken by me with the smartphone camera. Some of them were slightly modified to mask some people's faces.
