The mushroom cap is purple, purple-brown, brick-red in color. It can reach a diameter of up to 15 cm. A young specimen resembles a match, and as it matures it becomes cushion-shaped, convex. The top part of the hat is delicate, slightly suede, slightly slimy and sticky during the rainy season.
