Armillaria mellea

Armillaria mellea The honeycomb cap is 30 to 110 mm in diameter, first hemispherical with a curved edge, then convex to flat with a sharp edge, olive-brown. The surface of the hat is dry, covered with small, darker scales, in mature specimens it is without scales, sometimes slightly transparent, darker inside. Stem 80 to 180 mm high and 5 to 15 mm thick.

It usually grows in large bunches, up to several dozen fruiting bodies; in warm places, on deciduous and fruit trees, on dead wood, sometimes on the ground near trees.

Edible mushroom, very tasty, only the caps can be eaten.
I know two recipes for using this species of mushroom.

  1. In vinegar marinade - just like all sweet and sour mushrooms are prepared
  2. My favorite, the chicken soup (broth). Add the pre-cooked mushrooms to the broth (they must be slightly hard) and serve the broth with the whole boiled potatoes. Epic

Enjoy your meal

Note !: Collectible mushroom only for experienced pickers, easily confused with poisonous species.
