On weekends, I often go to a place that, due to its proximity to a large metropolis, industry, and mines, shouldn't be associated with the wilderness. But it is.

The Kochłowice Forests are a place unlike any other park, teeming with walkers, parties, noise, and so on. In the Kochłowice Forests, you can unwind, find a secluded spot where no one will ever get, and also commune with nature.

I usually cycled there, as it's about a 25 km round trip, but I've been walking for a while now, and I don't think I'll change that.

I missed a lot of things while cycling because I was mostly focused on the rocky path to avoid falling. Walking offers new opportunities to rediscover a completely familiar area.

The path to "Rybaczówka", situated above charming ponds, leads through what's commonly known as "Mosquito peak" In reality, this peak is called Cisowa Góra (Cisowa Mountain) and is the highest natural elevation in Katowice and the surrounding area, reaching 338.8 meters above sea level.

As it turned out, the forest is teeming with life. I was surprised by the abundance of mushroom species, both inedible and edible, which would indicate the forest's purity.

Walking between the ponds isn't always easy. They often overflow and flow into each other, creating pools and small marshes that are difficult to navigate.

Nevertheless, trips to this place have become a regular part of my spring, summer, and autumn repertoire. I haven't been there yet in winter, when there's a lot of snow. That could be quite interesting.
