Tych płatów może być od 4 do 10. W końcowym etapie przybiera gwieździsty kształt. Może mieć średnicę nawet do 20 cm średnicy. Z zewnątrz ma szarobiały kolor, wewnętrzna powłoka natomiast ma kolor biały który z czasem staje się jasnobrązowy.
