Rainbow in the forest - Rubroboletus legaliae (Krwistoborowik lubczykowy)

    It does not have a hat and does not look like a mushroom in general. It can be up to 2-3 cm in diameter. Closed pear-shaped, spherical, covered with a layer of mycelium that peels away from the whole, but gives a beautiful silvery color to the whole specimen.

    The outer sheath or exoperidium is cracked and may be up to 6 cm in diameter. Consists of several petals, no more than 10 petals., Gray, ocher color.

    The inner layer, i.e. the endoperidium, is spherical, it can be up to 2 cm in diameter, at first it is light, then it darkens, it becomes gray-brown, ocher-brown.

    Occurrence. The species likes desert places, steppe, warm sunlit. Often found in Poland. Inedible fungus
