Mushrooms with unusual colors - Orange peel fungus, Aleuria aurantia

    Orange peel fungus (Aleuria aurantia) is a mushroom that is usually cup-shaped, sometimes ovoid or irregular. Ripe fruiting bodies usually have folded and curved edges. The largest fruiting bodies can reach 10-12 cm in diameter. Outwardly, the mushroom is similar to an orange peel, capillary, inside the mushroom is smooth. The colors range from yellow through orange and bright red-orange.

    Flesh very brittle, thin, light yellow or off-white in color. The fruiting body does not have a perceptible taste or smell. The mushroom has no stem.

    Occurrence: The fungus grows directly on moist soil, in open spaces with plenty of sun. He can often be found at the site of fire. It is quite common. Value: edible mushroom, but has no special taste qualities. Sometimes added to dishes as an ornament.
