This species of mushroom is often called the transition mushroom. Where does this nomenclature come from? Well, Gilled bolete has the features of a fungus with gills, but it evolves towards the formation of pores.

The cap of this mushroom is most often dark brown, reddish brown or chestnut brown in color. The size of the hat does not exceed 11 cm in diameter. Semicircular in shape, as in many species, convex with age, spread out in old age.

The surface of the hat is dry matt, velvety. Its edge may be undulating with age.
Powierzchnia kapelusza jest sucha matowa, aksamitna. Jego brzeg z wiekiem może być pofałdowany.

The hymenophore is in the form of lamellae with numerous connectors, but you can see clear connectors transforming into pores. The color of the gills is golden yellow, quite sparse and thick.
The leg is golden, yellow with reddish-brown fibrils. Cylindrical shape and length not exceeding 8 cm.
Nóżka ma kolor złotawy, żółty z czerwonobrązowymi włókienkami. Kształt cylindryczny a długość nie przekracza 8 cm.

The flesh is light yellow, but red under the hat peel. It has no distinct smell or taste. The mushroom is edible.

The mushroom is a very rare species. At first glance, it can be confused with the golden boletus, whose hymenophore is, however, pores. It can be found from early summer to late autumn in mixed and coniferous forests. Likes acidic, sandy soils.
Grzyb jest bardzo rzadkim gatunkiem. Na pierwszy rzut oka można go pomylić z podgrzybkiem złotawym, którego hymenofor stanowią jednak pory. Można go spotkać od wczesnego lata do późnej jesieni w lasach mieszanych i iglastych. Lubi gleby kwaśne, piaszczyste.

Enjoy 😉
