Healing properties. A polyketide with fungistatic properties was isolated from fruiting bodies of Oudemansiella mucida. It is used to produce mucidermin, which is used to treat mycoses of the skin. It is well tolerated by the epidermis and does not harm the bacteria living on the skin. It was also found that the beech coin has a cytostatic effect on some neoplastic cells (Sarcoma 180, adenocarcinoma 755, leukemi L-1210). Purine compounds showing antiviral activity were isolated from the mycelial culture.

Oudemansiella mucida, commonly known as porcelain mushroom, is native to Europe. Oudemansiella mucida is a white, slippery arboreal mushroom, strongly associated with the beech tree. Distribution and habitat: on old decaying beech trees, often in clumps. It appears from late summer and grows until late autumn. It is rare in Poland, growing mainly in Southeast and East Asia. ,

Hat. It has a diameter of 2 to 8 cm, initially strongly convex, but flattens slightly over time. Gills wide and rare. The slender legs are 3 to 10 cm high and 3 to 10 mm wide. The mushroom is inedible but has healing properties. The flesh is very delicate, thin, odorless, almost transparent. ,
